Originating from the upper Rhine region about 1170/80, this silver gospel book cover incorporates Byzantine ivories of four saints (the evangelists) from the late 10th century.Flickr
The entrance to the Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral) in 1991. At the time, I had neither the equipment nor skills to really capture how big, ornate, and impressive of a building it is.

Europe prepares to approve a historic emergency oil release.
European capitals said they would back the International Energy Agency’s request to release 400 million barrels of oil to offset soaring energy costs and supply fears as war rages in Iran.
France, Italy, Germany and the UK have all signaled support for the measure, which would be the largest coordinated release of reserves in the IEA’s history.
