Day 5 of cycling from Basel to Barcelona [24.7.2026]
How beautiful can a landcape be? Very beautiful, indeed! Today was my first day of heavy climbing. I cycled from Grenoble to Saint-Roman in the Vercors mountains. The track was about 75 kilometers long with almost 2000 meters of ascent. Climbing the Col de Menée took me more than 2 hours. I stopped regularly in order to regulate my body temperature (it was quite hot and sunny) and not damage my tendons, muscles etc. I decided to sleep at an official campsite.That cost me 33€ (which is a lot), but at least I could sleep okay and start relatively fresh into the next day with some more ascents.
