I don’t normally get political on here but I’m going to use this platform to invite you to download the MapQuest app. Yes, That MapQuest for all you Aunties and Uncs like me out there.
Long story short, they refused to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario when Diaper Donnie got a mood swing. Google and Apple immediately changed the names and that really irritates me. I deleted all of my Google apps. (Maps, Earth, YouTube) which is a really big step for me. YouTube was just an obstacle in the way of all my books I need to read anyway and the AI slop has pretty much taken over. So yeah, back to MapQuest! Show your support and hop onboard.

People threatened an LGBTQ+ beach party. The organizer's answer was that the community is not going into hiding.
Then the party happened. On the announced date, at the announced place, with music and coolers and somebody's aunt in a folding chair.
That's what refusal looks like most days. Not a barricade. An occasion, kept on the calendar and held in public, while the people who'd rather you were invisible stand at the edge of the parking lot and watch you eat a sandwich in the sun.

More immigrants are being held in detention for over a year. NPR followed one family's ordeal.
A historically high number of immigrants are being held in detention in the U.S. today: nearly 60,000 people, according to the latest ICE data. Buried in those statistics is another alarming pattern: the number of detainees who have been sitting in ICE custody for more than a year has skyrocketed in recent months, from 998 detainees in October of 2025, to around 2,145 currently. Some of them are children as young as five years old.
NPR spoke to one family who is rapidly approaching the one-year mark in ICE detention: a mother and her children, including 5-year-old twins and a 9-year-old girl.
