auf ergrautem und zerbröselndem streu von blättern des letzten herbstes krabbelt ein recht flacher käfer von rechts nach links durchs bild. die deckflügel des tiers sind schwarz-grau, zeigen wenige erhabene längsrippen und hochgebogene kanten. der halsschild ist stark abgeflacht und steht zu den seiten über, das auffälligste merkmal ist aber die rostrote färbung. der kopf ist wieder schwarz und sehr klein, die fühler stehen nach oben und sind am ende verdickt und segmentiert.
