Marmelenten haben so eine krasse Ausstrahlung, so selbstbewusst.

Seltene Entenart. In Europa kleine Vorkommen, v.a. in Andalusien Valencia (wo ich war) und Sizilien. Am meisten in Iran Irak und Zentralasien, sonst vereinzelt verstreute Vorkommen z.B in Armenien Marokko der Levante.
Bestand ging stark zurück, besonders in Europa.
Früher eine häufige Art ums Mittelmeer. Durch menschliche Einflüsse wurde sie aber sehr selten, besonders durch Entwässerung von Feuchtgebieten

A baby bluebird flew into the garage and seemed like it was about to go into the crawlspace under my house. 😳

It seemed like it was in shock. It wouldn’t let go of my finger when I set it down in a sheltered spot in the garden. Gave it water and left it for a few minutes, came back and it seemed more alert.

Was about to give it sunflower seeds and it flew off chirping. Guess it’s ok now.

Sparrows, pigeons, and #seagulls are Slovenia's national #birds, I think 😁

For #Birbsday, here's a majestic #shithawk we spotted in Izola today, where we spent the last full day of our holiday. I panic-bought some overpriced olive oil as thank-you gifts for friends and neighbours while the other two went snorkelling. This #seagull and some of its thug friends stole a huge bag of crisps from an unattended bag while the bathers were in the water. The birbs fought all over the place for some crisps and made a huge scene. When they had emptied the bag and realized they couldn't eat the crisps depicted ON the bag, they screamed mournfully and strode around between blankets and towels in search of more. 😂

Exil.
Mein Abendprogramm im Hotel besteht in dieser Woche darin, zwei jungen Störchen bei ihren ersten Flugübungen zuzusehen. Wenn auch aus ziemlicher Entfernung.
Gestern kam mir einer von beiden im Tiefflug entgegen, als ich nach dem Arbeitstag ins Hotel zurückkehrte. Er hat wohl nur eine Platzrunde gedreht, denn inzwischen steht er wieder im Horst.

Ich kenne mich zwar einigermaßen aus, wenn es um #Ornithologie geht, aber hier bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher...

Ist das ein Jungvogel, der gerade schon volle Größe hat und sein Federkleid noch wechselt, oder ist dieses Weibchen einfach einer (Katzen)Attacke entgangen? 🤔

Sie saß jetzt eine ganze Weile auf diesem Dach, und hat den typischen Ruf von sich gegeben, den Jungvögel machen, wenn sie auf Futter warten.
