Putting the finishing touches to a special project to put an end to my frustrations for the lack of an open source image manager for GNU/Linux that is simple to use and works with my preferred image library and raw processor.

Works with #Immich (the library), #ART Raw editor, and #RawTherapee, #Darktable (the photo processors). Consider it to be a light table on steroids.

Off course this will be #FOSS

Wanted to organize photos. #Shotwell “Not responding”. Installed #Darktable. Importing hangs after ~45k/75k photos. Installed #Digikam. Digikam manages to process the library but metadata is garbled.

Painted Hand Pueblo (c. 1150 to 1300 CE), Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, Colorado. I really love this view with Wisuv Káruv (Sleeping Ute Mountain) in the background. See the Ute chief lying on his back with arms folded across his chest? He's kinda got a big nose! The nice thing is I'm an easy drive to this location now so I'll be able to pick my days to photograph it.

Interesting with #darktable #spektrafilm.

I only just discovered it yesterday through a Play Raw thread at discuss.pixls.us

"Halfway up The Nose of El Capitan is one of the wildest pendulums in existence"--it's called the King Swing! I shot this way back in 2015 with my Sony a6000 (a CMOS sensor camera) and a 70-200mm lens for a 35mm equivalent of 300mm. Still, it's cropped waaay in. The climber's goal is seen in the fourth frame, grabbing onto a crack in the rock face so they may continue their climb up The Nose and to the top.

Argemone albiflora (white prickly poppy).

I hope I don't get lectured about my use of the word "prickly" in this toot. When I tooted a photo of a Phacelia neomexicana (New Mexico scorpion-weed) a couple of days ago, I had a person totally go off on me for using the word "scorpion" and for warning people in the toot that contact with the plant can cause a "skin rash." 🙄

One of the first photos that I edited on my new iiyama prographic 27 inch monitor. I figured out a good way to show the side panels in darktable/darkroom. With my old screen I had to hide the left side panel in darktable (it is 24 inch 16:10), now I can show them both during editing because there is more space. I hide everything but the side panels in the developing module and switch to full screen, this way I see the image as big as possible.
