A minimal post-processing would make this image a bit more appealing, especially on the eyes, but that would break the no post-processing rule I'm holding on to. Maybe I'm too stubborn? A minimal post-processing on the basis of keeping the authentic color tone of the bird should be fine? (Sorry, I'm talking to myself, so ignore me). I will carry the thought moving forward.

A Jack Snipe Close Up

I had a lovely day out at the Rainham Marshes yesterday. One hide I stumbled into was full of excitement, and it turned out this Jack Snipe was bobbing up and down right under the hide while foraging.

After a while, a crow spoiled the view and chased it off.

Beim beobachten eines Pieperschwarms saß ich in einer Wiese. Ständig flogen zwei #Mäusebussarde über mich, begleitet von den "Katzenschreien". Einer ließ sich nicht weit von mir nieder, lief und hüpfte in der Wiese auf und ab. Ständig aber beobachte er mein Tun und schien zumindest interessiert.
Es gibt nichts auf der Welt das mich so in's hier & jetzt holt wie die Vogelbeobachtung. Und zumindest für diese Zeit scheint nichts anderes zu existieren.

Using the beach-dune systems as a highway

Many beaches and dunes are allowed to be abused as roads in Australia. This is hostile to wildlife, shorebirds and pedestrians

"Associate professor Craig Styan has been looking at how the beach is used and has surveyed a number of beachgoers. He said while there was no level of driving on the beach that had zero environmental impact, it posed a difficult management question."

"It's almost a paradox … the reason for going is because it's a natural environment, but you being there potentially impacts on some of those natural values."
