Some of you might have picked up that I have started to show more interest in birds. Either on the side panel of this blog, on Mastodon, or in Real Life™.
One time I was visiting RSPB Rainham Marshes, I spoke with a chap who recommended I should go visit the reserves in North Norfolk. I was aware of the richness of habits there from the BBC's Springwatch and Autumnwatch programs, including the conflagration of large flocks of birds there in the autumn migration season, especially at spring high tide.
I had done a little research, but found it hard to decide on where I should go, until I discovered that I could do an organised tour of the area. So I ended up on a train to King's Lynn in mid-September to join a tour with Wildlife Worldwide.

The photo quality is garbage but what matters is the extraordinary plant growing on the oak tree branch in the area I circled: a Resurrection Fern. Unlike most other plants, this fern can survive despite losing a large percentage of its water content. Along with the Tardigrades, that’s a living thing with impressive survival superpowers. #plants #nature #fern #naturephotography

There's a beautiful waterfall tucked into the rocky gorge just below the Christine Falls Bridge in Mount Rainier National Park.
I liked the contrast between the rushing whitewater, turquoise pool, and green moss growing along the rock walls.
It's a beautiful little spot that's easy to miss when visiting Christine Falls. 💦🌿

This is Dionaea muscipula 'B-52', a giant Venus Flytrap cultivar known for producing some of the largest traps in cultivation, often exceeding 1.5 to 2 inches in length. "B-52" is a code number assigned by Henning von Schmeling, the person who developed the plant. It does not refer to the bomber, the band, or the hair style.

I love photography but pinhole photography is my obsession. I shoot directly on Fomaspeed photographic paper with my homemade pinhole camera. The soft unsharpness and the weird dynamic of the paper are replacing technical perfection by mood. The shots are more like a painting. Gloomy moods, extreme perspectives and due to the long exposure time everything that moves becomes blurry like a ghost.

Many #butterflies are flitting about now, including this #SpicebushSwallowtail.
Take a close look at the blue airbrushed patterns near the tail. You'll see that there is a distinct zig-zag pattern as it fades to black. I'm thinking this may be an example of a #TuringPattern first described by the famous mathematician #AlanTuring in 1952.
