So I've managed to get throat ulcers, a painful chesty cough and a very sore voice box. The last few days I've done little beyond the absolutely necessary housework.

I'm still trying to get out for a walk though. Especially this week, as we have actual sunshine for once.

Photo of the iconic Fimmvörðuháls trail linking Þórsmörk (Thórsmörk) and Skógar. The route leads over the high pass between Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull, thus offering numerous views of meltwater waterfalls cascading over glacier-carved cliffs like these. It’s often hiked as an extension of the popular Laugavegur trail, but also works as a stand-alone route.

Last weekend I ran/walked the Great Glen Way from Fort William to Inverness in three days. Despite Scotland's reputation, very little of what I saw was unspoilt nature, with vast tracts of forestry plantation, and the entire route being riven by the canal and A82.
