This is one of the seven sites of the Miyako Shichifukujin—Japan’s oldest pilgrimage, established over 600 years ago. Following the Seven Lucky Deities is said to "remove seven misfortunes and grant seven happinesses."

Went to do some kicksledding but ended up with very strenuous kicksled-pushing.
Should have waxed the runners I guess 🙄. Never had to do that. They wouldn't glide one bit.
But the trail was perfectly packed by snowshoers. Nobody out there.

Some photos from today's hike in the mountains. To escape the fog.

It was very very icy at the bottom. And I was super happy to have my micro spikes.

The way up was pretty calm. Right the #silentsunday I had desired. At the summit there were a bit too many people and I didn't see proper motives. So I just enjoyed the view and the really warm temperature.

On the way down I met quite a couple of people.

All in all, an excellent day.

Ridnitšohkka in high winds during my six week solo ski tour to the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area, Finland, in April 2023. The faint tower on the peak is part of the border patrol and police communication network, originally built for Finland’s first mobile network in 1971. It was likely placed in this remote area because our former president Urho Kekkonen, sometimes jokingly referred to as our dictator, used to ski and hike here.
