I finally got around to going through the photos of the solar eclipse, and I’m happy with them. In hindsight, I always think I could have gotten even more out of them. A different location, better foregrounds? In any case, it was very challenging to photograph the solar eclipse “differently” than how it’s usually seen. I wanted to integrate it into the landscape and not just capture it as a close-up. What do you think of the results? Since I don’t like to post a lot of photos at once, I’ll be sharing the rest of the photos bit by bit over the next few days 🙂

Today's #solareclipse shortly after its peak, as the sun sets behind a mountain. Unfortunately, it wasn't a total solar eclipse in #Frankfurt (around 90% at its peak), but it was still quite spectacular. I took a few more landscape photos, which I hope to find time to develop in the coming days.

I almost forgot, some days ago I managed to take another long walk that started a night and ended in the morning. This time extreme heat isn't such a disaster, since weather is kinda bearable at such times. Plus I was lucky enough to cross to the area of that abandoned building just in sunset time, which allowed me to take some nice pics.
Unfortunately most of the time is absolute hell here, to the point that I'm having serious health complications lately because of that. Can't wait for autumn to come, so with better weather I'll be able to enjoy these walks it its full glory without dying in the attempt haha 😀

Day 215
Aled and I have decided to make #MountainMonday an actual #mountain bagging day! Today took us on a 10 km hike around a mountain lake and up #ArenigFawr, the largest of the range. Sounds perfect, right? Welp... The weather turned about two thirds of the way up and the rain 🌧️ came and I was unprepared (a series of mistakes but my fault entirely). So I was very cold and wet and tired and cranky. 🤬 But it was beautiful, the girls loved it (TongueOutTuesday here we come), and we made it up and back out alive! Another adventure in the books. ✨

Hiking Massif trail in #Norway: part 2. The highlight of this part was the Fannaråkbreen glacier ascent. I’ve never done it before, but the whole process was incredible thanks to the folks from DNT.
Later was the descent into the valley, and rocks and ice were replaced by lichen, then by grass, the shrubs, until one ended up in a full blown forest! Absolutely magical!

Hiking Massif trail in #Norway: part 1. First few days were brutally difficult, long and techincal stages through the rock fields and snow of Breheimen national park. They were very challenging to complete with a heavy multi-day backpack, and not a hut-to-hut day pack they seem to be designed around. Still, everything could be forgiven for these otherworldly views!
