An evening in late spring. We are looking out through an opening in the forest along the shore of a small, secluded cove on a large lake. Through a break in the clouds we see a patch of cornflower blue sky. Below that, the setting sun is trying to burn through a thin, hazy cloud, tinting it a pale golden orange. The sky is mirrored on the still surface of the lake. There are two young trees growing a few inches apart to our left. A cluster of water grasses sprouting from the shallows just ahead are a lush dark green. Across the water the two peninsulas that form the cove are densely wooded.

When I was a boy, we lived in a number of small towns and rural areas, and there were a lot of empty fields through which I would wander, daydream, and avoid doing my homework (presuming I had brought it home).

There was so much to discover, and not enough time between when the bus dropped my off and dinner.

Nice pink variation in this year's Corunna backdoor sun orchids (Thelymitra sp. - T.peniculata and/or T. pauciflora).

Quite a bit of variation in flowers (colours and structures) and leaf size in this small population next to the house. All of the plants are fairly shy to flower with only one or two buds opening for an hour or so on some warm / humid days.

Foto de uma orquídea em flor. Nessa orquídea as flores não ficam em uma "haste" mas sim, nos gomos da planta. Cada flor é branca, como um copo de leite, com o centro que começa vinho e clareia para o amarelo. A orquídea está agarrada em uma árvore que claramente é uma jabuticabeira, dadas as flores abertas, botões por abrir e o padrão da casca.

I love the light green lime colour of new leaves on the willows in Spring. It only lasts for a few days before darkening. Spring is a time of such change when plants nearly dormant wait patiently though Winter until their cue to burst forth. #nature #leaves #willow #Spring
