Research conducted recently in the US confirmed that carrying pollen raises bumblebee body temperature.
Temperature of #bumblebees carrying pollen was shown to be a lot higher than that of #bees with empty pollen baskets.

On the flip side heatwaves also reduce the quantity of nectar produced by plants which means less food available to #bumblebees already suffering from heat stress. So the #bees may throw in the towel and go home!

Today's #MothOfTheDay is a little worn and faded (aren't we all?!), but is relevant to the month.

JULY HIGHFLYER
hydriomena furcata

Geometers (flatties, rather than fatties) tend to be flighty and not very photo-compliant and need no invitation to fly away. Thankfully, this one landed on some shrubbery.

Surtout que c'est très utile, et nous protège du frelon asiatique.

Aujourd'hui il a un peu léché ma main, a fait sa toilette, puis je l'ai mis sur une feuille d'arbre.
Il était un peu fatigué.
