I got my first prime AF lens yesterday. The Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 I’ve just been using manual focus and vintage lenses up until now. I still like manual lenses but it’s nice having a lazy mode for quick snaps here and there. I like the photos that it renders so far. Good subject isolation and bokeh. Snappy AF. It even takes 52mm filters which is the majority of what I own, so I’m sporting that Tiffen Glimmerglass. Photos are SooC. More on the way, over the next few days…

I took this photo on the way back from a hike in the Alps. I had already photographed several scenes, and when we came across this waterfall, I was too lazy to take out my tripod. So I shot a few photos using a slow shutter speed to create a blurred effect on the water. I'm especially happy with this one — taken at 1/6 of a second — because it's still remarkably sharp.

Due to the increasing drought, the bark beetle has an easy time in many forests in Germany. Monocultures of fast-growing spruce used to be cultivated for quick timber production. Now entire forests are dying.
