I'm really surprised more people are not using Codeberg for there Git repo.

I am not really a coder and only recently started using Codeberg pages to host my static blog site.

But even I found it easy to use Codeberg, I even became an active financial member so I can support the project.

Why did more projects not look for alternatives when Microsoft bought Github ?

Do you have any experiences with AI creating issues on your repo? Someone opened an issue for Lightbeam and I'm unsure whether it was generated by an AI: codeberg.org/chikl/Lightbeam/i…. On one hand the "someone" knows details about the extension like the " 'Websites visited' value" but on the other hand nobody would use the term "Mozilla Firefox web browser" all the time. Maybe in the first sentence but then you would use only "Firefox". And there are other indications for an AI...

If you use #Codeberg for your #Git hosting, which other services you rely on can you recommend further?

For instance, we appreciate the service by #LetsEncrypt for our TLS certificates and Anoxinon for our Mastodon instance.

I think my basic RSS feed creator is feature complete, only supports Linux for now.

I uh, just need to figure out where to put the source code. I don't like the idea of using Microsoft's Github but I'm worried if I put projects on some other place, no one would find them.

I'm a hobbyist who has only done gamedev before, so if anyone wants to chime in on where is best place for putting source code, plz help.

Can anyone recommend a tool that integrates a Kanban (or something else) board with a repo properly? So I can attach commits, PRs etc. to a specific task for example?

Especially in a #godot context, because I need #git lfs. I've tried 1Dev, but LFS is locked behind EE and I'm now trying #Forgejo. #selfhosted would be awesome though. Azure DevOps or a Jira instance might be a little "too much" for a team of ~5 people, right? Any experiences?

Something I really like about Forgejo is how seriously they are taking software freedom.
- They use Forgejo itself as their git forge, not GitHub
- No reliance or linking to proprietary corporate services such as Patreon, Twitter, Facebook etc. They use Mastodon and Liberapay.
- No Dockerhub, their OCI images are on Codeberg.
- No Discord! (really hate how many FOSS projects use it)
- Their documentation does not recommend proprietary developer tools such as VSCode or Sublime Text.
- They recently switched to a copyleft license

Very refreshing, considering how many other popular git forges are either proprietary or "open-core"

@Codeberg i would like to add to my release in my repo an asset file (packaged app file : DMG or Zip) but as it is an electron app, the file size is quite heavy (110mo) and over the limit of 100mo.
What would be your recommandation to make that file available ?

(I think GIT LFS is not a solution as I don't want to track those files)

Hot take: we're too attached to the #Latin script. It's a historical accident that I can't call my #Git repo "привет" on a code #forge , and it's pushing a cool part the native cultures of billions of humans to the margin. Git itself can do it no problem!

And why should Дима switch to Latin for naming project if John doesn't switch to #кириллица anyway?

For hosting of Git-projects there are several #opensource options. The best known is #GitLab, some functionality is not free available though. Other options are @Codeberg and @forgejo and @gitea
