It's finally time. After years of deliberation, #Minetest is finally ready to adopt a new identity and prove it has moved beyond its original purpose. We can finally move past the "mining" and the "testing" and focus on making this platform the best it can be.

🚨 The European Commission is planning to stop funding for #FreeSoftware projects.
This will be a blow to #DigitalRights & the health of the internet.
The future of an open internet needs public funding ✊🏾

European Commission cuts funding support for Free Software projects - European Digital Rights (EDRi)
The Next Generation Internet initiative has supported Free Software projects with funding and technical assistance since 2018.European Digital Rights (EDRi)
Codeberg knows to implement #ProtocolsNotPlatforms so that every service can inter-operate without lock-in.
So that we don't get a #FreeSoftware community so confused that they worry "why are some people not linking their software project to *this one proprietary platform?*" like that's a bad thing.
#FreeSoftware refers to freedom, not price.
It guarantees its users the essential four freedoms: use, understand, share and improve

@unfa That would probably have to be `foot`.
Fully native & minimalist Wayland terminal that I use every day. Although minimalist, it has many semi-hidden features like piping scrollback URLs to a fuzzy-find launcher app of choice (e.g. `rofi`, `wofi`, `dmenu`, `fuzzel`, etc...)
Such a productivity boost! Launch URLs from the terminal, no clicking, just using keyboard shortcuts & fuzzy find to select. 🚀

What's your favourite #FreeSoftware that is #NotOnGitHub (or on other proprietary code forges like #GitLab.com)?
Let us know in the comments! Feel free to also share code from other #Forgejo instances, #Sourcehut or other platforms.

Thanks to everyone who already gave input on the topic of #OpenWashing !
As many companies claim to be working on “Open Source” or “Free Software” while distributing proprietary software products, we at the @fsfe would like to learn more about current market practices.
We're interested in your views and experiences on openwashing! You can submit them here:

EU citizens, your vote for the European Parliament election matters much more than you might think.
From #ChatControl and #EUGoingDark all the way down to #ClimateCrisis: Some important decisions are due.
We noticed populist right-wing forces co-opting "open-source" by "supporting its adoption".
However, they stand for isolationism (hidden behind "tech sovereignty"), and against international collaboration, openness and transparency; which are what makes #FreeSoftware awesome.
Choose wisely!
Next week, 🗓️ from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 March, we’ll be at #Circonomia Festival in 📍 Fano (PU), Italy!
💡 @tommi is hosting a workshop on decentralized networks 🕸️, #FreeSoftware 👾, and the (in)sustainability of the Internet 🤖, while @dario is reading “Ada & Zangemann - A Tale of Software, Skateboards 🛹, and Raspberry Ice Cream 🍦”
