This allows our translators to push translations to projects on, e.g. #FreeDesktop #gitlab without needing to manually open MRs.

#Gitlab now comes with an AI tool, apparently. I was just greeted by it. I asked it ONE question.
I was presented with four options. Every single one is wrong.
- There is no "X" button anywhere (except fully closing my browser)
- ESC key does nothing
- Clicking outside the chat windows does nothing
- The toggle button likely closes it, but technically this is still wrong, because I never opened it that way - it was already open by default.

So after testing out #GitLab last night, I was pointed to #ForgeJo by @kiwi46678. I was having some problems getting email setup in GitLab so thought I would give it ago.
Well - not 2 hours in, it is setup and working and I do prefer it. I like that I can have synced repositories so update one on #GitHub and mine will sync.

Does someone have a #gitlab workflow that is able to open backport MRs for successfully merged MRs that have a specific label?
For example: My MR has a label "backport::release-0.1.0". That MR is merged to master.
Now the workflow creates a new MR, targeting the "release-0.1.0" branch with the changes from my original `git cherry-pick -x`ed, or if that fails it comments on my original MR with a message indicating that cherry-pick failed.

Do you have any experiences with AI creating issues on your repo? Someone opened an issue for Lightbeam and I'm unsure whether it was generated by an AI: codeberg.org/chikl/Lightbeam/i…. On one hand the "someone" knows details about the extension like the " 'Websites visited' value" but on the other hand nobody would use the term "Mozilla Firefox web browser" all the time. Maybe in the first sentence but then you would use only "Firefox". And there are other indications for an AI...

A piece of criticism to all code forges I know: why not run #CI on all commits?
A bad commit is a liability. It will break bisect and make debugging miserable.
#ForgejoActions takes it to the extreme and cancels an already running action when I push another change.
I get it - it's too slow and expensive to test them all when pipelines take minutes to run. But you could just pause the old ones until the newest one is finished!

Hot take: we're too attached to the #Latin script. It's a historical accident that I can't call my #Git repo "привет" on a code #forge , and it's pushing a cool part the native cultures of billions of humans to the margin. Git itself can do it no problem!
And why should Дима switch to Latin for naming project if John doesn't switch to #кириллица anyway?
For hosting of Git-projects there are several #opensource options. The best known is #GitLab, some functionality is not free available though. Other options are @Codeberg and @forgejo and @gitea
There are probably several more. Extra information is welcome.
