Happy #Equinox! It's #aurora season around the poles because the disturbances in the earth's geomagnetic field caused by the sun's solar winds are stronger. The solar wind has a north and south pole like a magnet, just like the earth does. During the equinoxes, the solar wind's poles are opposite to the earth's own magnetic field, opening up a hole when the poles attract and thus allowing the solar wind to flow more easily to the earth's poles and create auroras!
