[Shared]Setting aside just one day for the Louvre is a classic first-time Paris visitor’s mistake. The place is simply too big to comprehend on one visit, or indeed on ten visits. To grow so vast has taken eight centuries, a process explained in under three minutes by the official video animated above. First constructed around the turn of the thirteenth century as a defensive fortress, it was converted into a royal residence a century and a half later. It gained its first modern wing in 1559, under Henri II; later, his widow Catherine de’ Medici commissioned the Tuileries palace and gardens, which Henri IV had joined up to the Louvre with the Grande Galerie in 1610.

Jedes Jahr im #Frankreich-Urlaub bin ich erstaunt, wie langsam die nach der #Energiekrise beschlossene #ErneuerbareEnergie #PV-Pflicht auf #Parkplätzen vorankommt. Das mag regional etwas unterschiedlich sein, aber beim Durchqueren des Landes sind die meisten entdeckten grossen #Parkplätze von Einkaufszentren noch "nackt"; kaum eine Baustelle. Jedes mal gucke ich wieder die Umsetzungsfristen nach (und vergesse sie wieder ;) ). Also kurze Erinnerung: Ein Jahr Zeit bis Sommer 2026 haben die Verpflichteten noch....(je nach Grösse auch bis 2028). Alles gut also, kann noch kommen. Wobei so langsam die Planungen seitens der Supermärkte losgehen müssten.

However, his fascination was not confined to the freedom and spontaneity of street art; he was captivated by the potential to transfigure the ordinary world into an extraordinary canvas.

He further adds, “A playful and anthropomorphic art that borrows its artistic language from toys, comics or animal bestiary. By drawing on the history of the Cyclops, I revisiting Greek mythology.”
Rather than utilizing paint on a blank wall, Le CyKlop views everyday street fixtures, particularly the humble bollard, as unique canvases. These mundane posts, with a splash of paint and a sprinkle of imagination, transform into one-eyed creatures. HERA: I have an apartment with high ceilings in which the living room also serves as my workshop. So when I entertain friends, we sit in my open kitchen where a huge bookcase takes up an entire wall. There are a lot of children’s books, and just as many books by photographers like Christina Mittermeier and Steve Mc Curry. They are a source of inspiration and I take them from apartment to apartment, like an essential part of who I am.

HERA: Susanne Goga, German novelist, is single-handedly responsible for my renewed interest in the city in which I live, Berlin. Her series “LEO BERLIN” is full of historical glimpses when she tells the life of her hero Leo Wechsler, Commissioner for Crim ‘in the 1920s. I have as big a weakness for thrillers as for history. HERA: There are many of them but one that I take in my luggage when I travel to paint is “Alibi School” by Jeffrey Mc Daniel. It’s a collection of poetry, and in fact, he gave it to me himself in 1997: I was 16 and I was on a school exchange at Venice High School in Los Angeles. Jeffrey had been invited as a lecturer in Lynn Sabin’s poetry class and he had an insane way of mixing humor with the gruesome side of life. To be honest, at 16, I didn’t really understand where his energy was coming from, but I did understand a few years later when I started doing graffiti. It was at this precise moment that I rediscovered the book of Mc Daniel and that I reread his verses over and over again until I knew them by heart.
