Hey everyone
I've uploaded a new Elder Scrolls book reading audio to the members archives, this time for the book [Fire and Darkness]. I've included a sample of the voice-only audio in this post~
The story details the disagreements between two groups of assassins in Tamriel, meandering through the history of the groups and why they came to blows
The video for this will go up on Youtube in the coming week, but if you'd like access sooner, consider becoming a monthly supporter (all tiers get access to the files).

'Careless People' Is the Book About Facebook I've Wanted for a Decade
I've reported on Facebook for years and have always wondered: Does Facebook care what it is doing to society? Careless People makes clear it does not.Jason Koebler (404 Media)
Heyy everyone, I’m (technically) not #newhere -- but let’s pretend it’s my grand re- entrance ;P ;P
So here goes...
My interests include #science, #climate, #earth, #environment, #sustainability, #cleanliness (yes, I love a tidy ecosystem and a tidy desk), #art, #history, #naturalhistory, #music, and #reading --just to name a few. Honestly, I have a lot of interests, and these are just the ones that come up most often.
But wait --there’s more: #psychology, #facts #cats, #catmemes, #funnymemes, #classicalartmemes, #film, #tv, #technology, #spirituality, #selfimprovement, #lifehacks, #helping, #charity, and #peace.
In the New Normal™, the human ability to read closely and intentionally is a finite and scarce resource.

I picked up an Afro-Futurism Story Bundle the other say so diving into some of those books. So far enjoying Space Funk! Some interesting shorts.
I need to find non-fiction that doesn't impact my blood pressure. 'Generation of Sociopaths' is super interesting and offers (so far) some great insights into what the fuck happened to Boomers and how they can't die off soon enough (Sorry good boomers, your pals are evil).
I really wish Boomers would read it. Maybe a fraction would reflect.

I love reading Books. I love reading physical books you know the ones that you hold in your hand. I love Foliate which I have encountered on one of my Open Source operating system distributions.
Since I love reading physical books it was normal and natural for me that Foliate had a regular light theme because paper is white to light yellow.
The light theme was chosen even though my desktop had a dark team, also logical.
Now I was fortunate enough to get a free set of fantastic books which are accessible through a DRM walled system by Amazon. Their closed Source clients did the following infuriating thing.
When I started it up it gave a brief warning that it was going to change something which turned out to be the theme which it brought to dark, and I have not found the easily accessible option to change it back to the light theme.

I Ditched the Algorithm for RSS—and You Should Too - Joey's Hoard of Stuff
I waste too much time scrolling through social media. It's bad for my health, so why do I keep doing it?
Because once in a while, I'll find a post so good that it teaches me something I never knew before, and all the scrolling feels worth it. But I've stumbled upon an old piece of free and open source tech, relatively unknown today, which is THE solution of solving the problems with modern media without sacrificing accessible, good content: RSS.

March and into this month I branched out a little. I wanted to see what the Reacher books were like. Not sure I'll read more but it was fun.
I picked up Terry Brooks' latest (and his last) entry in the Shannara universe. It was a bit slow and lacked what I loved in the early books.
A non-fiction book on the decade that made me. It's an interesting look at the 90s from now and comparing to my lived experience.

How New Ideas Arise via The MIT Press Reader
[Shared]While discussing the problem of how ideas arise in his “Science of Logic,” Hegel stated that “the beginning must be an absolute, or what is synonymous here, an abstract beginning.” Therefore, a new beginning “may not suppose anything, must not be mediated by anything,” but “must be purely and simply an immediacy, or rather merely immediacy itself.” In other words, Hegel declares the utter necessity of intuition, renouncing the control of the rational mind in favor of unconscious foresight. This is perhaps motivated by the fact that self-censoring doesn’t exist in the unconscious or in ideas, which are free to combine in improbable and ever-mixing associations.
