We should be gentle when dealing with one who is ignorant and teach him what he needs to know without rebuking him, so long as he is not acting out of stubbornness, especially if he is one who needs to be won over.

[h2]The Prophet’s way in correcting people’s mistakes

Anas Ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him said: “Whilst we were in the Mosque with the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) a Bedouin came and stood urinating in the Mosque. The Companions of the Messenger of Allah sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said, ‘Stop it! Stop it!’ and were about to attack him. But the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said, 'Do not interrupt him; leave him alone.' So they left him until he had finished urinating, then the Messenger of Allah sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) called him and said to him, ‘In these Mosques it is not right to do anything like urinating or defecating; they are only for remembering Allah, praying and reading Qur’an,’ or words to that effect. Then he commanded a man who was there to bring a bucket of water and throw it over the (urine), and he did so.” (Muslim)

The principle which the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, followed in dealing with this mistake was to treat the man gently, not to be harsh with him.

The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was thinking of the likely consequences of the two options - stopping him or leaving him alone. If they tried to stop him, forcing a man to suppress his urination could do him harm, and if he was unable to stop but moved away because he was afraid of them, the impurity would be spread over a wider area of the Mosque and on the man's body and clothing. The Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) had the farsightedness to see that leaving the man alone until he had finished urinating was the lesser of two evils, especially since the man had already started doing it, and it was a problem that they would be able to do something about by cleaning it afterwards. So he told his companions to leave him alone and not to interrupt him.

Ibn Hajar may Allah be pleased with him mentioned in his commentary a number of things we learn from the hadith about the Bedouin, among which are the following:

• We should be gentle when dealing with one who is ignorant and teach him what he needs to know without rebuking him, so long as he is not acting out of stubbornness, especially if he is one who needs to be won over.
• The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was kind and he dealt nicely with him.
• The idea of taking precautions against impurity was established well in the minds of the Sahabah (Prophet’s companions), which is why they hastened to denounce it in the presence of the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, without first asking his permission. The idea of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil was also well established in their minds.
• We should also hasten to remove anything objectionable when there is nothing to stop us from doing so, because when the man had finished urinating, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) issued instructions that the place should be cleaned with water.

Explaining the seriousness of the mistake

Ibn ‘Umar, Muhammad Ibn Ka’b, Zayd Ibn Aslam and Qutadah may Allah be pleased with them reported (the following is compiled from their reports) that during the campaign of Tabook, a man said, “We have never seen anyone who loves food and tells lies more than our rectors, or anyone who is more cowardly in the battlefield” – referring to the Messenger of Allah, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, and his Companions.

Awf Ibn Malik said, ‘You are lying! You are a hypocrite, and I am going to tell the Messenger of Allah, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam. ‘ Awf went to the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) to tell him, but found that Qur'an had already been revealed concerning it. That man came to the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) who was riding his camel, and said, “O Messenger of Allah sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) we were only talking idly and joking, just to pass time in the journey." Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said, "It is as if I saw him hanging onto the reins of the Prophet's camel, with the stones hitting his feet, saying, "We were only talking idly and joking," whilst the Messenger of Allah sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was reciting (what means):

”Say: ‘Is it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?’” (Qur’an 9: 65)

We see that the prophet’s reply to these abominable remarks was by reciting some verses of the Qur’an by which this man was told that Allah and His Messenger are far above mocking. He, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, didn’t become enraged or order that the man should be punished severely. Any one else may do that, but the Prophet was sent as a mercy to all creation and to be an example of how people should behave.

If one wanted to say something in his ears, he would not turn away till one had finished as reported in the books of Abu Dawood and At-Tirmithi may Allah have mercy upon them. He did not like people to get up for him and used to say: “Let him, who likes people to stand up in his honor, he should seek a place in hell.” [Abu Dawood].

Allah Says (what means): “By the grace of Allah, you are gentle towards the people; if you had been stern and ill-tempered, they would have dispersed from round about you” [Quran, 3: 159]

About himself the prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Allah has sent me as an apostle so that I may demonstrate perfection of character, refinement of manners and loftiness of deportment.” [Malik and Ahmad]

By nature he sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was gentle and kind hearted, always inclined to be gracious and to overlook the faults of others. Politeness and courtesy, compassion and tenderness, simplicity and humility, sympathy and sincerity were some of the keynotes of his character. In the cause of right and justice he could be resolute and severe but more often than not, his severity was tempered with generosity. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) had charming manners which won him the affection of his followers and secured their devotion. Though virtual king of Arabia and an apostle of Allah, he never assumed an air of superiority. Not that he sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) had to conceal any such vein by practice and artifice: with fear of Allah, sincere humility was ingrained in his heart. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) used to say: “I am a Prophet of Allah but I do not know what will be my end.” [Al-Bukhari]

In one of his sermons calculated to instill the fear of Allah and the day of reckoning in the hearts of men, he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “O people of Quraysh be prepared for the hereafter, I cannot save you from the punishment of Allah; O Bani Abd Manaf, I cannot save you from Allah; O Abbas, son of Abdul-Mutalib, I cannot protect you either; O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad, even you I cannot save.” [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) used to pray: “O Allah! I am but a man. If I hurt any one in any manner, then forgive me and do not punish me.”

[Ahmad]He always received people with courtesy and showed respect to older people and stated:

“To honor an old man is to show glorification to Allah.”

He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) would not deny courtesy even to wicked persons. It is stated that a person came to his house and asked permission for admission. The prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) remarked that he was not a good person but might be admitted. When he came in and while he remained in the house, he was shown full courtesy. When he left ‘Aa’ishah may Allah be pleased with her said: “You did not think well of this man, but you treated him so well.”

The prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) replied: “He is a bad person in the sight of Allah who does not behave courteously and people shun his company because of his bad manners.” [Al-Bukhari]

He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was always the first to greet another and would not withdraw his hand from a handshake till the other man withdrew his. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) had stood up to receive the wet nurse who had reared him in infancy and had spread his own sheet for her. His foster brother was given similar treatment. He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) avoided sitting at a prominent place in a gathering, so much so that people coming in had difficulty in spotting him and had to ask which one was the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). Quite frequently uncouth Bedouins accosted him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) in their own gruff and impolite manner but he never took offence. [Abu Dawood]

He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) used to visit the poorest of ailing persons and exhorted all Muslims to do likewise [Al-Bukhari]. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) would sit with the humblest of persons saying that righteousness alone was the criterion of one’s superiority over another. He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) invariably invited people be they slaves, servants or the poorest believers, to partake with him of his scanty meals. [At-Tirmithi]

Whenever he sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) visited a person he would first greet him and then take his permission to enter the house. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) advised the people to follow this etiquette and not to get annoyed if anyone declined to give permission, for it was quite likely the person concerned was busy otherwise and did not mean any disrespect.

There was no type of household work too low or too undignified for him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). ‘Aa’ishah may Allah be pleased with her has stated: “He always joined in household work and would at times mend his clothes, repair his shoes and sweep the floor. He would milk, tether, and feed his animals and do the household shopping.” [Al-Bukhari]

He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) would not hesitate to do the menial work of others, particularly of orphans and widows [An-Nasa’ee, Ad-Darami]. Once when there was no male member in the house of the companion Khabab Ibn Al-Arat may Allah be pleased with him who had gone to the battlefield, he used to go to his house daily and milk his cattle for the inhabitants [Ibn Saad].

Justice is a noble moral and a magnificent characteristic which is attractive to people, infuses hope in the hearts of the wronged, and the unjust pay utmost concern for it.

By virtue of justice, matters return to their normal and right path; rights are returned to their owners, people are happy and life is rectified. Welfare is present as long as there is justice, if justice is absent people will be miserable.

Justice is a moral of those who are great, a feature of those who are pious; it is the hope of the righteous and the way to success for the believers in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. Justice was constituent in the character of the prophets, the righteous, leaders, mentors, and above all, the ‘Seal of the Messengers’, the master of humans, Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) enjoyed the greatest share of it.

Justice was an aspect of the great character of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) practiced it before Allah, the Almighty, in his dealings with others, with his relatives and with others, his friends, antagonists and even his stubborn enemies. Allah ordered him to be just; Allah Says (what means): {O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do} [Quran 5:8]

Therefore, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) obeyed the Orders of Allah in all his affairs, adopting justice with his Companions may Allah be pleased with them and enemies.

He would never deny anyone justice, even with those who objected to him and showed an unfavorable attitude towards him. He would rather forgive them, as in this story. Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri may Allah be pleased with him said: “While he was in Yemen, ‘Ali may Allah be pleased with him sent a gold-nugget to the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) who consequently divided it among four persons: Al-Aqra ‘Ibn Habis Al-Hanthali, ‘Uyaynah Ibn Badr Al-Fazari, ‘Alqamah ibn ‘Ulathah Al-‘Aamiri (a man from Banu Kilab), and Zaydul-Khayr At-Ta'i, who was a man from Banu Nabhan. Thereupon, the Quraysh got angry because the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) bestowed gifts on the chiefs of Najd and ignored them. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) justified this action by saying that he sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) favored them to soften their hearts. Afterwards, a man with a thick beard, prominent cheekbones, hollow eyes, a domed forehead and a shaved head came to the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) telling him to fear Allah. Thereupon, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said, “Who then would obey Allah if I disobeyed Him? Does Allah the Almighty entrust me with your affairs on earth while you do not?” “ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Such great character is clearly highlighted in a most beautiful manner when the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) asked a person to seek retaliation from himself. Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri may Allah be pleased with him narrated: "While the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was dividing something among people, a man came and attached himself to him. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) slapped him with a date stalk. The man went out and the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) called him to retaliate. However, he told the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) that he had forgiven him.” [An-Nasa’ee]

Moreover the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) always showed justice and hated to be distinguished from his Companions. Instead of he sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) loved equality and endured difficulties from them. Ibn Mas‘ood may Allah be pleased with him narrated: “On the day of the Campaign of Badr, every three persons would ride on one camel in turns. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) had to do so with his two companions: Abu Lubabah and ‘Ali Ibn Abi Talib may Allah be pleased with them. When it was the turn of the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) to walk, the two Companions offered to walk instead of him. However he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) refused and said that they were not stronger than him, and he was in need of Allah’s reward just as they were in need of it.” [Imam Ahmad]

Practicing justice within the context of his family was not brought to a halt when the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was occupied with directing the affairs of the state or being engaged in battles. He used to apportion among his wives, invoking Allah, The Almighty, not to blame him for his special love or affection paid to certain wives; as reported in a Hadeeth narrated by Imam At-Tirmithi, but it was classified as weak.

‘Aa’ishah may Allah be pleased with her the wife of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said, "If the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) wanted to set out on a journey, he would draw lots among his wives so that one of them would accompany him.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Anas may Allah be pleased with him narrated, “A wife of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) sent to him food in a bowl as a gift. However, ‘Aa'ishah may Allah be pleased with her hit the bowl so the food fell out and the bowl broke. Therefore, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “The spilled food has to be compensated for by other [food], and the broken bowl has to be compensated by another.” [At-Tirmithi, and Al-Bukhari (with different wording)]

In passing judgment among quarrelling persons, the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was perfectly fair and never committed any injustice. Haram Ibn Muhayyisah may Allah be pleased with him narrated on the authority of his father that a female-camel belonged to Al-Baraa' Ibn ‘Aazib may Allah be pleased with him entered a garden belonging to a man and caused damage there. Thus, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) judged that protection of property was the responsibility of its owners during the daytime and the owners of cattle had to keep them during night. This is according to a Hadeeth narrated by Ahmad.

The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) did not approve suspension of the prescribed punishment set by Allah, The Almighty, to administer justice among people, even if the criminal was his relative or favorite. When a woman from Banu Makhzoom tribe committed theft, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) rejected the intercession of Usamah may Allah be pleased with him for her and said his famous words: “O people, what led to the destruction of the nations preceding you was their acquittal of the noble person if he committed theft and infliction of the punishment on the weak if he committed theft. By Allah, if Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad, committed theft I would cut her hand off.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Also, the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) used to order his Companions to administer justice in all matters and to achieve balance. Addressing ‘Abdullaa Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al-‘Aas may Allah be pleased with him the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “O ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr, I have been informed that you observe daily fasting and perform voluntary night prayers the whole night. Do not do so, for your body, your eyes and your wife have due rights upon you.”

[Muslim]Through this noble character, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) could draw people’s attention to him, stimulate their feelings towards his sublime principles and set a unique method for the best nation – the Muslims – who guide all humanity to observe justice and obliterate oppression and injustice.

The character that the Qur’an seeks to cultivate does not become arrogantly joyful when it obtains worldly desires, like Qarun with his amassed wealth, nor does it fall into despair over losses. This balanced approach allows a person to manage both success and failure without succumbing to pride or grief. As Allah says:

“And if We give man a taste of mercy from Us, then withdraw it from him, indeed he is despairing, ungrateful. But if We give him a taste of favor after hardship has touched him, he will surely say, ‘Evils have departed from me.’ Indeed, he is exultant and boastful. Except for those who are patient and do righteous deeds; those will have forgiveness and great reward.” (Hud: 9-11)

In one of his sermons calculated to instill the fear of Allah and the day of reckoning in the hearts of men, he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “O people of Quraysh be prepared for the hereafter, I cannot save you from the punishment of Allah; O Bani Abd Manaf, I cannot save you from Allah; O Abbas, son of Abdul-Mutalib, I cannot protect you either; O Fatimah, daughter of Muhammad, even you I cannot save.” [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) used to pray: “O Allah! I am but a man. If I hurt any one in any manner, then forgive me and do not punish me.”

[Ahmad]He always received people with courtesy and showed respect to older people and stated:

“To honor an old man is to show glorification to Allah.”

He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) would not deny courtesy even to wicked persons. It is stated that a person came to his house and asked permission for admission. The prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) remarked that he was not a good person but might be admitted. When he came in and while he remained in the house, he was shown full courtesy. When he left ‘Aa’ishah may Allah be pleased with her said: “You did not think well of this man, but you treated him so well.”

The prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) replied: “He is a bad person in the sight of Allah who does not behave courteously and people shun his company because of his bad manners.” [Al-Bukhari]

He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was always the first to greet another and would not withdraw his hand from a handshake till the other man withdrew his. If one wanted to say something in his ears, he would not turn away till one had finished as reported in the books of Abu Dawood and At-Tirmithi may Allah have mercy upon them. He did not like people to get up for him and used to say: “Let him, who likes people to stand up in his honor, he should seek a place in hell.” [Abu Dawood].

He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) would himself, however, stand up when any dignitary came to him. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) had stood up to receive the wet nurse who had reared him in infancy and had spread his own sheet for her. His foster brother was given similar treatment. He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) avoided sitting at a prominent place in a gathering, so much so that people coming in had difficulty in spotting him and had to ask which one was the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). Quite frequently uncouth Bedouins accosted him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) in their own gruff and impolite manner but he never took offence. [Abu Dawood]

He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) used to visit the poorest of ailing persons and exhorted all Muslims to do likewise [Al-Bukhari]. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) would sit with the humblest of persons saying that righteousness alone was the criterion of one’s superiority over another. He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) invariably invited people be they slaves, servants or the poorest believers, to partake with him of his scanty meals. [At-Tirmithi]

Whenever he sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) visited a person he would first greet him and then take his permission to enter the house. He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) advised the people to follow this etiquette and not to get annoyed if anyone declined to give permission, for it was quite likely the person concerned was busy otherwise and did not mean any disrespect.

There was no type of household work too low or too undignified for him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). ‘Aa’ishah may Allah be pleased with her has stated: “He always joined in household work and would at times mend his clothes, repair his shoes and sweep the floor. He would milk, tether, and feed his animals and do the household shopping.” [Al-Bukhari]

He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) would not hesitate to do the menial work of others, particularly of orphans and widows [An-Nasa’ee, Ad-Darami]. Once when there was no male member in the house of the companion Khabab Ibn Al-Arat may Allah be pleased with him who had gone to the battlefield, he used to go to his house daily and milk his cattle for the inhabitants [Ibn Saad].

Justice is a noble moral and a magnificent characteristic which is attractive to people, infuses hope in the hearts of the wronged, and the unjust pay utmost concern for it.

By virtue of justice, matters return to their normal and right path; rights are returned to their owners, people are happy and life is rectified. Welfare is present as long as there is justice, if justice is absent people will be miserable.

Justice is a moral of those who are great, a feature of those who are pious; it is the hope of the righteous and the way to success for the believers in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. Justice was constituent in the character of the prophets, the righteous, leaders, mentors, and above all, the ‘Seal of the Messengers’, the master of humans, Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) enjoyed the greatest share of it.

Justice was an aspect of the great character of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ). He sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) practiced it before Allah, the Almighty, in his dealings with others, with his relatives and with others, his friends, antagonists and even his stubborn enemies. Allah ordered him to be just; Allah Says (what means): {O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do} [Quran 5:8]

Therefore, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) obeyed the Orders of Allah in all his affairs, adopting justice with his Companions may Allah be pleased with them and enemies.

He would never deny anyone justice, even with those who objected to him and showed an unfavorable attitude towards him. He would rather forgive them, as in this story. Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri may Allah be pleased with him said: “While he was in Yemen, ‘Ali may Allah be pleased with him sent a gold-nugget to the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) who consequently divided it among four persons: Al-Aqra ‘Ibn Habis Al-Hanthali, ‘Uyaynah Ibn Badr Al-Fazari, ‘Alqamah ibn ‘Ulathah Al-‘Aamiri (a man from Banu Kilab), and Zaydul-Khayr At-Ta'i, who was a man from Banu Nabhan. Thereupon, the Quraysh got angry because the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) bestowed gifts on the chiefs of Najd and ignored them. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) justified this action by saying that he sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) favored them to soften their hearts. Afterwards, a man with a thick beard, prominent cheekbones, hollow eyes, a domed forehead and a shaved head came to the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) telling him to fear Allah. Thereupon, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said, “Who then would obey Allah if I disobeyed Him? Does Allah the Almighty entrust me with your affairs on earth while you do not?” “ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Such great character is clearly highlighted in a most beautiful manner when the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) asked a person to seek retaliation from himself. Abu Sa‘eed Al-Khudri may Allah be pleased with him narrated: "While the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was dividing something among people, a man came and attached himself to him. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) slapped him with a date stalk. The man went out and the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) called him to retaliate. However, he told the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) that he had forgiven him.” [An-Nasa’ee]

Moreover the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) always showed justice and hated to be distinguished from his Companions. Instead of he sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) loved equality and endured difficulties from them. Ibn Mas‘ood may Allah be pleased with him narrated: “On the day of the Campaign of Badr, every three persons would ride on one camel in turns. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) had to do so with his two companions: Abu Lubabah and ‘Ali Ibn Abi Talib may Allah be pleased with them. When it was the turn of the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) to walk, the two Companions offered to walk instead of him. However he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) refused and said that they were not stronger than him, and he was in need of Allah’s reward just as they were in need of it.” [Imam Ahmad]

Practicing justice within the context of his family was not brought to a halt when the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was occupied with directing the affairs of the state or being engaged in battles. He used to apportion among his wives, invoking Allah, The Almighty, not to blame him for his special love or affection paid to certain wives; as reported in a Hadeeth narrated by Imam At-Tirmithi, but it was classified as weak.

‘Aa’ishah may Allah be pleased with her the wife of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said, "If the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) wanted to set out on a journey, he would draw lots among his wives so that one of them would accompany him.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Anas may Allah be pleased with him narrated, “A wife of the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) sent to him food in a bowl as a gift. However, ‘Aa'ishah may Allah be pleased with her hit the bowl so the food fell out and the bowl broke. Therefore, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “The spilled food has to be compensated for by other [food], and the broken bowl has to be compensated by another.” [At-Tirmithi, and Al-Bukhari (with different wording)]

In passing judgment among quarrelling persons, the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was perfectly fair and never committed any injustice. Haram Ibn Muhayyisah may Allah be pleased with him narrated on the authority of his father that a female-camel belonged to Al-Baraa' Ibn ‘Aazib may Allah be pleased with him entered a garden belonging to a man and caused damage there. Thus, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) judged that protection of property was the responsibility of its owners during the daytime and the owners of cattle had to keep them during night. This is according to a Hadeeth narrated by Ahmad.

The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) did not approve suspension of the prescribed punishment set by Allah, The Almighty, to administer justice among people, even if the criminal was his relative or favorite. When a woman from Banu Makhzoom tribe committed theft, the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) rejected the intercession of Usamah may Allah be pleased with him for her and said his famous words: “O people, what led to the destruction of the nations preceding you was their acquittal of the noble person if he committed theft and infliction of the punishment on the weak if he committed theft. By Allah, if Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad, committed theft I would cut her hand off.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Also, the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) used to order his Companions to administer justice in all matters and to achieve balance. Addressing ‘Abdullaa Ibn ‘Amr Ibn Al-‘Aas may Allah be pleased with him the Prophet sallallaahualayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “O ‘Abdullah Ibn ‘Amr, I have been informed that you observe daily fasting and perform voluntary night prayers the whole night. Do not do so, for your body, your eyes and your wife have due rights upon you.”

[Muslim]Through this noble character, the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) could draw people’s attention to him, stimulate their feelings towards his sublime principles and set a unique method for the best nation – the Muslims – who guide all humanity to observe justice and obliterate oppression and injustice.

#Review: Spider-Man: Brand New Day – A #Hero for the #Surveillance State?

At first, #Spider-Man: Brand New Day looks like another emotional #superhero #story. Peter Parker has lost everything. No one remembers him, not even MJ. He searches for his #identity while trying to protect #NewYork. The #film spends much of its time on #trauma, #loneliness, and #mental #health.

But behind this personal story lies a political #message. The film presents mass surveillance as something necessary and even heroic. This is where the #movie becomes much more interesting—and much more troubling.

Spider-Man uses powerful surveillance #technology to watch the city. He collects video from many security cameras. He scans every face to find criminals. Even the #police admit that this is probably #illegal. Still, the film treats these actions as acceptable because Spider-Man is one of the "good guys."

Jean Grey—now portrayed by Sadie Sink (She kept her role a huge secret beforehand for marketing reasons.) in the Marvel Universe—falls into the facial recognition trap set by Spider-Man's surveillance program. If, by the end, you feel sorry for Jean Grey because the script wants you to and you’ve let yourself be swept up in the drama, then please remember that at the beginning of the movie, Jean possessed an old man and sent him running into the street so he would be brutally run over. She’s a mass murderer who’ll stop at nothing to achieve her goal. She could easily achieve this goal with her incredible superpower, but she makes it unnecessarily complicated by first freeing the Scorpion, which is what draws Spider-Man's attention to her in the first place.

This idea has a long #history in popular culture. The strongest comparison is George Orwell's 1984. #Orwell imagined a #society where every citizen is watched. Surveillance is presented as a tool for #security, but it destroys #freedom. In Brand New Day, the situation is different because Spider-Man is a hero, not a dictator. Yet the basic question remains the same: Who watches the watchers? If one person can see everyone, who controls that person?

The film never really asks this #question. Instead, it assumes that surveillance is good as long as the right people #control it. This is one of its biggest #weaknesses.

Another interesting comparison is The Dark Knight. In Christopher Nolan's film, #Batman creates a machine that can monitor every mobile phone in Gotham. Lucius Fox calls it too dangerous because it gives one person unlimited power. Batman agrees. He uses the system only once to catch the #Joker and then destroys it immediately.

Brand New Day takes a very different approach. Spider-Man's surveillance technology is not treated as a #moral #problem. Instead, it becomes a normal #tool of #crime fighting. The ethical debate that makes The Dark Knight so powerful is almost completely missing.

The transcript also compares Spider-Man's work with modern surveillance technology. Peter Parker works closely with the Department of Damage Control and helps collect huge amounts of personal data. The review argues that this creates a positive image of a close relationship between #government institutions and powerful technology companies.

This makes the film feel surprisingly modern. Today, governments and private companies collect enormous amounts of digital information. Cameras, facial recognition, smartphones and artificial #intelligence make surveillance easier than ever before. The movie reflects this reality but rarely questions it.

One of the most interesting contradictions is #PeterParker himself. He wants #privacy for his own life. He hides his identity and wants to escape public attention. At the same time, he watches everyone else and scans thousands of faces. The film never fully explores this contradiction.

This creates an uncomfortable message. Privacy seems important for the hero but less important for ordinary citizens.

The citizens themselves hardly have a voice. They mostly watch, cheer and accept Spider-Man's actions without #discussion. They never decide whether they want to live in such a #society. They simply #trust the hero.

As #entertainment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day offers impressive visuals and emotional performances. However, its political ideas deserve much more attention. The film normalizes mass surveillance while presenting it as an act of kindness and #responsibility. It replaces difficult ethical questions with emotional storytelling.

Unlike 1984, it does not warn us about surveillance. Unlike The #DarkKnight, it does not seriously question its use. Instead, it asks the #audience to trust the hero completely.

That may be the film's most surprising message. The greatest danger is not an #evil government forcing surveillance on its people. The greater danger is that we willingly accept surveillance because it is carried out by someone we like.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day succeeds as an emotional superhero #drama. As a political film, however, it raises fascinating questions without giving convincing answers.

I could say his #mistake was using Windows, but he made so many more mistakes by posting to his social media channels at the same time using the same IP address. It takes a lot more than just a VPN to outsmart the FBI.
