The Creeping Buttercup for #wildflowerwednesday

As a Millennial I can’t help but think of Princess Buttercup from The Princess Bride.

I’ve got this vintage Vivitar 75-205 f3.8 that produces some nice bokeh and has macro capability. It’s got that vintage rendering that I think carried over well in these photos. It’s a heavy lens but if I could just pick one for walking around doing nature shots I think it would cover all the bases.

I can’t decide whether I like the cropped im version or the original framing. Cropped in looks nice because of the little water drops but the sky bokeh also looks nice. I dont know what do you think?

Butterflies in flight

Taken with the X-H1 and a vintage Vivitar MC 75-205mm f3.5. I was a little surprised at how sharp this lens is for being 50 years old. It renders the background really attractively too. It’s got some nice character.

#FotoVorschlag “Naturnah // Close to Nature” I don’t think there’s a better Vorschlag for macro than this. Yesterday it rained quite a bit and I thought it was a good time to go around looking for insects.

Here we have a Caterpillar that has perfect orbs of water caught in its hair. These guys remind me of shaggy dogs because it’s really hard to see their face for all the fur.

#macromonday Here’s another spider that is incredibly small (a juvenile) and is snacking on some type of fly. Third picture is backed out for scale. It was only a few millimeters long. Also its eyes are different colors. I’m guessing the flash hit each one at a different angle and caused this. My best guess on species is juvenile Phidippus Audax but if there’s a biologist in here with more experience please correct me if I’m wrong. (So many variants!)

#FotoVorschlag “Feier // Fest” This was from a local Pride Fest in 2024. I think it was one of my first times taking street style photos at an event like this. The energy felt good here. Everyone just hung out and watched the performers dance to their songs. The fest was sadly discontinued after 2024 because the event organizer moved away. I really think someone should take up the torch but they may be waiting for things to settle down politically. I don’t know. However I was touched by their free expression and was glad I showed up.
