The viewpoint is low looking up at a wooden building with two windows on the ground floor and the gable of a smaller upper room to the left of the first floor roof. This main roof is unusual because instead of tiles or timber a metal frame holds an organic cover. Under a blue, almost cloudless winter sky the plants and grasses are ragged and dry, but come spring and summer it should burst into greenery helping to cool the space below. The two windows are framed by lighter yellowish/orange timber in a wall painted russet brown. The windows reflect a second building behind the camera. Three more windows, a roof top balcony and a hint of blue sky can be seen. This is Japan but the architecture feels Scandinavian.

The road will be long if we hope people learn. The only thing some learned is that they should vote Sanseito instead of LDP (I'm sure the rise of the Sanseito is at least in part due to the LDP doing absolutely nothing about the Moonies)

Coming of Age Day today in Japan!

Known as Seijin no Hi in Japanese, it’s a special day to celebrate young people who have reached adulthood and to welcome them into society as responsible members. Each city holds ceremonies to congratulate these "new adults."

Here is some footage from after the ceremony held at Miyako Messe, located near Heian Jingu Shrine in Kyoto.

A winter visit to Sekizan Zen-in Temple in Kyoto❄️

This is one of the seven sites of the Miyako Shichifukujin—Japan’s oldest pilgrimage, established over 600 years ago. Following the Seven Lucky Deities is said to "remove seven misfortunes and grant seven happinesses."
The deity Fukurokuju is enshrined here; visitors come to pray for business success, longevity, and protection from disaster.

Miyako Shichifukujin Pilgrimage in Kyoto⛩️

One of Japan’s most traditional New Year pilgrimages, it involves visiting seven deities who bring good fortune. Each god represents a different wish, such as longevity or prosperity. It is a popular New Year tradition in Kyoto, especially in January.

Daikokuten, the deity of wealth, business success, and good harvests, is enshrined at Myōen-ji Temple.

I'm looking at a slight angle at a bridge over a river. Both riverbanks are within the shot. There is a commuter train crossing over it. The train is longer than this shot is wide. The reflection on the river underneath is just of the head of the train beginning to cross the bridge from the left. It makes no sense! I've cropped the image to silver screen proportions and added black bars at the top and bottom.
