@st3fan Wirklich so gar nicht vergleichbar. Ich habe Ubuntu stets kritisiert. Mit Neid und Überheblichkeit hat das aber gar nichts zu tun. Eine Communitydistribution wie #Debian zu forken war IMO schlichtweg kein sehr feiner Zug. Man hätte das Ganze auch ohne Fork anfängerfreundlicher machen können aber auf Demokratie hatte Shuttleworth keine Lust also hat er sich bei #Debian lediglich bedient.

in der UFW ist ausgehend und eingehend der Port 53 offen.

Ich mag Debian ja wirklich sehr. Debian war mein erstes Linux, als ich vor ca. einem Jahr weg bin von Windows als Hauptbetriebssystem.
Aber Debian auf meinem Rechner hat auch (für mich) etliche Nachteile. Standardmäßig wird wahnsinnig viel mitinstalliert und die Pakete/Software/Kernel sind teilweise echt schon ziemlich alt, z.B. Gimp 2.0, KDE 5.x usw.
Vor einigen Monaten bin ich dann relativ optimistisch zu Arch Linux gewechselt. Vorteile von Arch Linux: Sehr schlank und sehr aktuell, hier wird nur das Nötigste installiert.
Aber so ganz konnte ich noch nicht warm werden mit Arch Linux, nach wenigen Wochen erklärte ich den Umstieg für gescheitert und wechselte zurück zu Debian.
Nun habe ich vorgestern Versuch Numero 2 gestartet, bin erneut zu Arch Linux gewechselt und ich glaube, dieses mal bleibe ich dabei, jetzt fühlt es sich für mich "richtig" an.
Einiges ist unter Arch Linux natürlich anders, Updates werden hier z.B. anstatt mit:

Auf alten Computern kann man zahlreiche ressourcenschonende Distros installieren. Funktionieren auch gut. Aber die meisten haben einen großen Nachteil: Der erste Start von Programmen dauert "ewig". Dann läuft die Anwendung zwar, aber die Wartezeiten verderben den Spaß an Linux.
Puppy-Varianten haben einen entscheidenden Vorteil: Das System läuft im RAM ab - und wird damit richtig flott.

Pues lo he hecho. He eliminado Windows de mis dos equipos. No he encontrado las alternativas que buscaba pero ya estoy harta. Lo primero, los requisitos, que ya todes lo sabemos así que me ahorro la explicación. Lo segundo y lo que más me ha molestado, han eliminado la compatibilidad con las gráficas de los procesadores de ambos equipos. Así que ahora sí (espero) adiós, Windows
Prefiero mil veces tener mis equipos funcionales a tener los programas para la ps2 que a lo mejor encuentro mejores alternativas (y por mi papo que las voy a encontrar aunque me cueste incluso tener que aprender a crear scripts que hagan las funciones de los programas)
Pues he decidido (otra vez y a ver cuánto dura) intentar no depender de Windows para nada y voy a usar alternativas (wine, alternativas en GNULinux, etc) para poder lograrlo

Buenos dias.... hoy sigo con mi proyecto de mejora del server de TKZ, que ya que tengo pendiente actualizar sus discos duros y el OS, pues voy a aprovechar para añadirle un poco de seguridad, porque el acceso y la privacidad de los datos para mi es crucial.
Para los que queráis saber más sobre lo que tengo en mente, os cuento un poco:
- La instalación será Debian 12.10 y tendrá el OS instalado en dos discos duros con RAID1, para que en caso de que haya un fallo de disco duro se pueda reemplazar por otro fácilmente con tolerancia a fallos y alcance completo al OS.
- Además de esto, el disco duro salvo la partición /boot irá encriptado con LUKS
- La clave de LUKS estará en un dispositivo externo (Llave USB) junto a la partición /boot
- Initramfs se encargará de montar este USB y coger automáticamente TODO lo necesario.
- Si el USB no está presente el sistema no arrancará.
- Si el USB está presente el sistema arrancará

Para los que queráis saber más sobre lo que tengo en mente, os cuento un poco:

Todo esto ya lo he replicado con éxito y hecho funcionar en un entorno virtualizado y ahora me falta pasarlo al servidor, cosa que espero hacer a lo largo de hoy.
La idea principal es que sin el USB de arranque los datos no sean accesibles de ninguna manera, incluso extrayendo los discos duros físicamente, debido a la encriptación.
¿Tenéis alguna sugerencia, matíz o apunte sobre este setup? ¿Qué opinais?

#Canonical ha fatto una cosa, IMHO, MOLTO grave: cambiando le basi del sistema GNU significa di fatto dire addio alla viralità della #GPL che ha reso Linux quello che è. Molto male

Cierto, puede ser un problema de CPU Throtling por sobrecalentamiento. La CPU tiene mecanismos de protección de temperatura si no hay buena refrigeración. Con un i5 y xfce, tu #Debian te tiene que volar.
Como es el uso del CPU frente a #debian ? Tengo un i5 cuyo rendimiento me está desesperando. Me pasé incluso a un escritorio más ligero (de KDE a LXQT) pero sigue siendo desesperante a veces. Me pregunto si en el formateo que está al caer, me compensa probar Arch.

Can't seem to satisfy some of the PHP library requirements, namely IntlChar, IDN, OpenSSL. I read somewhere that installing openssl covers PHP libraries for same. Is this true? What about IntlChar and OpenSSL? Does php-intl cover IntlChar?

NASA's switch to Linux in space was driven by reliability, flexibility, and security concerns. The International Space Station (ISS) originally relied on Windows, but astronauts frequently encountered crashes and instability. In 2013, NASA announced that all laptops on the ISS would transition to Debian, a Linux-based operating system, to improve stability and control over software.
This change wasn’t just about reliability. Windows was much more vulnerable to malware, and in 2007, a worm named W32.Gammima.AG spread to the ISS. With Linux, NASA gained the ability to modify and customize the system for mission-critical applications without depending on proprietary software. Der Midnight Commander (mc) hat mir mal auf F3 auf ein JPG dessen Exif-Daten angezeigt. Das macht er jetzt nicht mehr. Die Suchmaschine will mir nur zeigen, wie ich die eigentlichen Bilder anzeigen kann. mc.ext.ini hab ich gesagt:

Linux Mint wird allgemein empfohlen für Anfänger. Prinzipiell bin ich mittlerweile aber auch so weit, dass ich unter bestimmten Bedingungen Anfängern auch gleich Debian stable empfehle. Wenn der Rechner nicht komplett neu ist. Viele Fehler die mir von Ubuntu basierten Distributionen berichtet wurden konnte ich unter #Debian nicht nachstellen, da hat einfach alles funktioniert. Also wenn mit dem Debian Live Image der Rechner bootet, und Wifi Karte und co out of the box funktioniert empfehle ich das gerne noch vor Mint. Das stable im Namen hat Debian einfach zu Recht.
Abgesehen von einigen Zicken, die #NixOS gemacht hat, ist der Mailserver tatsächlich sehr leicht zu konfigurieren. Gar kein Vergleich zu dem Aufwand, den man in #Debian für ein vergleichbares Setup treiben müsste.
Debian werde ich da jedenfalls eher nicht vermissen.
Dann steht jetzt noch der Webserver aus. Das scheint deutlich einarbeitungsaufwändiger in Nix zu werden. Danach heißt es dann erst endlich bye bye Debian...
