i like your activities, i like #unplugtrump by any means necessary. i worked with next cloud over 2 years - but now its getting too big, too complicated to manage, too bloated.
i am single user, not sharing stuff, not collaborating. i need a solution for automatically syncing fotos, calendar adress book. mobile<>cloud<>desktop thats it.
now i think i have to find a solution other than nextcloud. - unfortunately.

Ich wollte mal berichten:
Meine unlängst geschilderte Verarbeitungskette zur Behandlung, Umbenennung und Verschiebung meiner Bilder in der #Nextcloud funktioniert ausgezeichnet.
Dass nur mehr Files und Verzeichnisse eingelesen werden, die sich tatsächlich geändert haben, und nicht jedes Verzeichnis beim Öffnen, macht meine Nextcloud auch wirklich deutlich performanter.
Ein paar kleine Anpassungen musste ich noch machen, weil nicht alle Teamfolder gelesen wurden.
Aber ich bin sehr zufrieden.
Die Änderungen kann ich erst im Laufe des Tages ins Git einpflegen.
Wen die #Automatisierung also interessiert, bleib dran an diesem Repo:
Hier ging vor kurzem ein Tröt rum zum Thema #Cloudspeicher. Es wurde eine #Genossenschaft empfohlen, die Cloudspeicher anbietet und befindet man Mitglied werden kann.
Ich finde das leider nicht mehr. Könnt ihr mir helfen?

Another weekend, another round of #homelab tasks done:
✅ #stirlingpdf installed in a LXC and configured
✅ #dnsmasq replaced with #pihole + #unbound and configured
✅ local root certificate installed on all mobile clients
✅ #nextcloud installed on all desired mobile clients
✅ local root certificate installed in the "old" #homeassistant instance - finally SSL-enabled connections for all integrations and add-ons!
Alright - I made some good progress on my new #homelab server:
✅ #dnsmasq installed in a LXC and configured
✅ #step-ca installed in a LXC and configured
✅ #nextcloud installed in a VM and configured
✅ #homeassistant installed in a VM and configured
✅ #paperlessngx installed in a VM and configured
✅ All LXCs and VMs are using the internal CA
✅ Proxmox Backup Server installed on my old homelab server
✅ First full backup is running
I find it really hard to decide what to install within a dedicated #VM and what in a #LXC Container.
So far, #homeassistant #nextcloud and #paperlessng got dedicated VMs. And #dnsmasq and #stepca are in LXC containers.
Why? No strong and probably meaningful reason. dnsmasq and step-ca are so small that it simply felt the overhead of a VM was not worth it.
Nextcloud I've installed manually. Why? Because I didn't see the advantage of using #Docker inside a VM.
Alright - I've followed @Starkimarm recommendation and installed #Proxmox on the server. On new NVMes following @cubeos advice. 😉
I also successfully installed #homeassistant using the Proxmox VE Helper Scripts
Now - what's the recommended way to install #nextcloud #paperlessng #unifi etc? These are only available as LXC or, as for Nextcloud, a super old VM.
Would you install a dedicated VM for each (Debian?) and then only the LXC on that or is there a better way?

Ugh, updating the latest update for #macOS 15 #Sequoia broke #Baikal #CalDAV. It was always finicky to get it to work but it has worked fine until now.
Maybe I should look into setting up #Nextcloud just for CalDAV... I think it supports CalDAV. But it also adds so much more I have no need for. I think 🙂.
Mittlerweile habe ich, ich weiß nicht mehr, wie viele #proxmox #Server und #Backup Server in Betrieb, ich weiß auch nicht mehr, mit wie vielen #Linux #Container|n #lxc und virtuellen Maschinen #kvm.
Darin laufen zudem #docker #portainer #dockge #kubernetes und noch mehr Instanzen, dass ich so langsam nicht mehr weiß, wie ich die alle administrieren kann.
Mal ganz abgesehen von den herkömmlichen öffentlichen Servern, die ein #upgrade benötigen.

Frage | Nextcloud kaputt?
Kann es sein das bei einer der letzten Nextcloud Updates einen Bug bezüglich der Darstellung von Bildern gab? Ich habe Zugriff auf fünf NC Installationen die alle auf dem aktuellen Stand sind. Nun ist es aber so das ich dort wenn ich in einen Ordner mit Bildern bin und ein Bild aufmache, nicht mehr weiter zum nächsten Bild gehen kann. Auch die Diashow funktioniert nicht mehr. Ich habe es auch mit einem Privaten Fenster oder dem Löschen des Browsercaches veruscht, alles mit den selben Ergebnis.
Ist das ein bekanntes Problem bzw. woran kann das liegen?

Wäre ein günstiger Einstieg, um Nextcloud und die dafür verfügbaren Apps zu testen.
Alternativ oder parallel ist sicher auch ein lokal betriebenes NAS sinnvoll. Ich nutze eines von #Synology, die ihren Hauptsitz in Taiwan haben. Ist dann aber halt proprietäre Software. Der Weg raus ist ein langer, wenn man es sich zu bequem gemacht hat... 😬

Wenn ich das jetzt nicht verwechsle hatte ich mal ein Humhub Modul dafür, habe es aber wieder gelöscht, aus Gründen von Datenschutz und Zwangswerbung. Als Alternative gibt es z.B. #Nextcloud Talk oder eine Vielzahl von node.js WebRTC die man ganz einfach selber hosten kann?

Just received some amazing news in my inbox.
October 31st @SURF is going to migrate its cloud service from the (relatively old) Owncloud to #Nextcloud.
Owncloud was ok, but Nextcloud is orders of magnitude better, smoother and prettier.
This is what we need to wean off our higher education of the fascist and fascist enabling big tech sludge from the US.
Yet at the same time, I am receiving disconcerting messages from the Vrije Universiteit (VU), and Utrecht University (UU)...
