Nextcloud, this is kind of assholey. No, I don't "value low cost over root access to the machine." I value my time and my data. I don't have the knowledge to manage security threats to my own machine (therefore pretty much all of my family's data), opened to the Big Wide Internet, and I enjoy the fact that the environment (e.g., SQL+nginx etc.) is set up and managed by my host, so I don't have to become a sysadmin to have a low-budget, self-hosted dropbox.
*Edit*: Nextcloud has been great and also a huge hassle. Upgrading is always (ALWAYS) a multi-hour or multi-day process for me, and there are constant headaches with little things that don't work (e.g., authentication with my mobile sync app, for some reason). I'm already considering paying #proton for some stuff, so I think in about February, if I can't get my major NC hassles fixed, I'll just ditch it once and for all and use Proton Drive, which seems secure and easy to use, even though it's not #FOSS. I really don't have time to go get a second degree in systems administration right now.

Mal angenommen ich suche einen virtuellen Server. Eigentlich was ganz kleines (1-2Kerne) um ein bisschen NextCloud zu machen (5 User) aber mit 500GB Speicherplatz. Gerne mit Ökostrom. Gibt es Empfehlungen für ein günstiges Angebot?

im deutschsprachigen Raum empfehle ich die sehr gute Anleitung von Carsten Rieger. Alternativ gibt's da auch ein Script. Damit läuft meine Instanz zu Hause ohne Probleme.
Is there already a date, when version 30 will be distributed through the stable update repository? Up to now my #nextcloud 29 instance shows no new version available.
Or am I maybe missing something here?

EIn verwandter Physiotherapeut möchte seinen Patient:innen die Möglichkeit anbieten, Rezepte per Upload via Website (#Wordpress) hochzuladen. Er meint, dass er damit einigen rezeptions- und Verwaltungsaufwand, am Ende viel Zeit einsparen könnte, die er lieber in der Behandlung sieht.
Meine Frage an Wissende aus der #Datenschutz, #ITsec und #Wordpress Ecke:
Es handelt sich ja klar um besonders schützenswerte medizinische personenbezogene Daten. Wie realisiert man sowas sinnvoll und ausreichend sicher? Kann man schlicht ein "beliebiges" Uploadplugin nutzen, was die verschlüsselte Übertragung sicherstellt? Oder ist ein Upload innerhalb der Website-Wordpressdateistruktur per see eher ungeeignet und man sollte das über ein ganz anderes System realisieren (z.B. #Nextcloud?)
