Es gibt in Österreich nicht nur weniger und mehr beachtete einzelne Migrationen zu Open-Source Projekten (#Bundesheer #BMWET) sondern eine Roadmap, die dauerhafte Bewegung in Richtung #DigitaleSouveränität möglich macht. Bei Betriebssystemen weiter auf US-Unternehmen zu setzen, ist aber eine offene Flanke - auch da braucht es eine Vision!

Wer zum DiDay eine Alternative zu iCloud, Drive, etc sucht, sollte sich mal die Magentacloud der Telekom ansehen. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Nextcloud, die gebrandet aber ansonsten den gleichen Funktionsumfang wie das Original besitzt. Der "Nextcloud Desktop-Client" kann genutzt werden, um die Daten mit dem Rechner zu synchronisieren. Selbstverständlich geht das auch mit dem Handy

Mit einem Telekom Konto hast du bereits 25 GB Speicher frei, der nach Bedarf erweitert werden kann.

Die Server stehen in DE.

Ich hadere noch mit mir, was nextcloud angeht.

Zuhause läuft eine Synology, auf der ich diverse Services laufen lasse. Bspw. Immich für Bilder, oPodSync, Adguard etc. Dort könnte ich theoretisch natürlich auch eine Nextcloud Instanz anlegen.

Sehe ich einen grossen Vorteil gegenüber dem Synology-eigenen Fileserver nicht? Abgesehen von der Proprietären Software.

Wegen CGNAT erreiche ich das heimische Netzwerk ohnehin nur via Tailscale.

Natürlich könnte ich auch eine managed Nextcloud bei Hetzner o.ä. nutzen, aber das fühlt sich alles irgendwie doppeltgemoppelt an.

Ever stumbled upon #nextcloud ? It provides most of the #Google suite functionality. Not 100 % there but for everday use it got so much better in the last years.

And I do want #foss to be what it is: A worldwide project that benefits all of humanity.

"We" in the #EU should use that power to create a framework that should work with "our" essential apps. But I don't see why it should raise walls where it can provide digital freedom and plurality.

Nutzt hier eins die iOS-Navigationsapp Overland in Kombi mit Nextcloud/Phonetrack?

Nachdem ich die letzten Tage an den besten Einstellungen (aktuell für zu Fuß alle 10 m/alle 10 sec) geschraubt habe, läuft es theoretisch gut, aber unterwegs gibt es ohne Grund immer wieder so „Ausrutscher“, dass der Track zu einem unbekannten Punkt und wieder zurück springt und danach wieder weiterläuft. Siehe Screenshots.

Mein digitaler Zettelkasten wurde bisher über die Notizen-iOS App in der #iCloud realisiert. Den loszuwerden ist definitiv meine Hauptchallenge auf dem Weg zur #digitalsovereignity.

Mit dem quelloffenen #Joplin und Synchronisation in die #Nextcloud habe ich jetzt die für mich perfekte Lösung gefunden. 😊

Es gibt Clients für sämtliche Betriebssysteme/Cloudspeicher und wenn man sich reinfuchst findet man viel mehr Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten als bei der iOS App.

Talk wäre nur für Chat (hat auch eine Handy-App). Aber: Videocall bei Talk geht nur bis 6 Leute gut. Und die Jitsi-App in Nextcloud wurde seit 2024 nicht aktualisiert.
- dachte dann: vlt gibt es ja auch nur managed Jitsi Hosting (inkl Turn Server). Aber:

- Videocall für ca 15 Leute, der stabil ist (wir treten gegen Discord an, nech)

Al hilo de lo que preguntaba ayer sobre maneras de salir de la garra de las megacorporaciones americanas, hoy he estado haciendo pruebas para crear un espacio de almacenamiento externo, conectado al #Nextcloud que tengo alojado en LucusHost, en un «bucket» S3 provisto por #OVHcloud. El objetivo: dejar de pagar a #Google por 100 GB/mes de almacenamiento en la nube.

Parece que tira, pero la curva de aprendizaje es empinada del copón.

Gibt es wartungsarme #SelfHosting-#Nextcloud-Lösungen, die sich Menschen zu Hause hinstellen können, die kein abgeschlossenes Informatikstudium haben?

Vom Prinzip her wie die NextBox, die @nitrokey mal angeboten hat. Allerdings scheidet ein Raspberry PI-basiertes System aus, denn das System sollte eine dedizierte Grafikkarte haben.

Zum #DIDAY rate ich mal wieder zu #Nextcloud selbst hosten. #Sync von #Kontakten, #Kalender, #Dateien und #Lesezeichen zwischen mehreren #Android und #Linux Geräten, ohne Google. Bin mittlerweile sehr glücklich damit. Auch zum Teilen von Bildern und Dateien in der Familie sehr gut geeignet.

I just installed @nextcloud on our VPS together with my dad, as a replacement for our Seafile server that started misbehaving a bit after an upgrade. While it took some time to figure out the nginx and docker configuration, the whole process was pretty smooth and I imagine someone who's more used to setting up such things could do it in less than an hour.

Now that we have it, there is so much cool stuff that's included: photo albums, calendars, collaborative editing, Doodle-style polls, synced bookmarks, and many more (see apps.nextcloud.com/).

So far there's just a few small things that could be improved: syncing softlinks is not supported, and history is only on a per-file basis (not a whole directory). But overall I'm really happy with the quality and feature set.
