I love the way jackett updates itself. The program runs on different OS smoothly, is an sh based program, only does one thing and does it excellent.
The Update process is run only after a long while, after the spawn of jacket. Since I always monitor its logs i saw the following (as screencapped) today when it announced a new version.
Every move it makes is logged in explicit detail. You see how a lib is first copied checked after arrival then replacing the old version. The same goes for all files in the jackett tree which you run in ~/bin/jackett

Meet Holger Angenent, he’s responsible for the Sync and share service sciebo for all the universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Holger describes how smooth it is to migrate to Nextcloud.
With 40 institutions using sciebo, around 200,000 users and a complex setup, the migration process took six months of planning, requiring close collaboration, and developing a proof of concept which enabled Sciebo users not to migrate their data to the new platform on their own. Instead, the platform itself was just changed to Nextcloud with minimal downtime.

Organic Maps: Community-Fork „CoMaps“ entsteht nach Streit und Lizenz-Ärger
Bei Organic Maps kriselt es: Die drei Hauptbeteiligten haben sich zerstritten, die MIT-Lizenz wurde heimlich gestrichen und durch ein persönliches Copyright ersetzt. Zusätzlich wurde Cloudflare-Logging aktiviert.
Die Community reagiert: Mit dem Fork CoMaps (vorläufiger Name, Abstimmung läuft noch bis 20. Mai) entsteht ein neues, konsequent offenes Projekt – Quellcode auf Codeberg.
Wer OpenStreetMap-Apps nutzt und Wert auf echte Open-Source-Philosophie legt, sollte CoMaps im Auge behalten. Die Geschichte erinnert an das Schicksal von Maps.me

It is a fucking shame. And it is pure neglect, as pointed out in the blog post.
Hot take: a new version of open source software should not release before accessibility is fixed. It should be treated as a show stopper, because it actually is for people with a disability.

@RaccoonForFriendica This weekend I took some time to investigate how much work would be needed to build an iOS version of the app, and it turned out that at least building and running a basic version of the app is doable with some minor changes (see here).
