Hello #swarmintelligence of the #Fediverse, how do you solve the problem when you want to install new software on an already known domain?
So in my case from #Lemmy to xxx (I'm not sure yet what it will be, maybe #Friendica). Because if the instance keys no longer match, communication will be rejected.
Mastodon introduced the self-destruct command for this, but Lemmy doesn't have anything like that.

Diré que dejé de usar #Thunder después de que una actualización en su repositorio principal quedase incompatible. Fue el empujoncito que hacía falta para comenzar a usar #Interstellar y tras configurarlo un poco para tener una parte decente de las comodidades que disfrutaba en Thunder diré que difícilmente miraré atrás. Interstellar es más rápida, cómoda de navegar y dice ser compatible con #Lemmy, #Mbin y #Piefed. De igual modo aplaudo ambos proyectos.

I personally really like #Pixelfed and i think #Loops is a great idea and project. I'm also obviously happy about #Mastodon, also think #Lemmy is great.

#Peertube is great, so is #Funkwhale.

But ask most #GenZ folks about any of those and you're going to get a blank stare unless they are on Mastodon already.

There's nothing wrong with that, we all enjoy these things, but again, reality vs. expectations... something i can't help but consider.

It “only” took me a few years to find out that I don’t need to have a PeerTube or Lemmy account to interact with them; I just need to copy/paste the link in Mastodon search and then follow or reply.

Why no one is saying this little detail FIRST to all the n00bs coming from the Horror socials? After this you can explain the fediverse; Now Activity Pub makes so much sense to an atechnical person.

A friendly reminder for all who are looking for an alternative to gup.pe because it has apparently been taken over by new and/or unknown entities.

tootgroup.py offers group functionality for Mastodon, Pleroma, GotoSocial and probably others (albeit untested). All you need is an account that acts as your group and some computer running Python that regularily connects to it.

Its written by me, easy, lightweight and most importantldy, not dependant on a third party service.

Gruppen im Fediverse, die über die Domain a.gup.pe betrieben wurden, sind aufgrund eines Domain-Verkaufs nicht mehr erreichbar. Diese Gruppen wurden häufig von Nutzenden verwendet, deren Gemeinschaften über keine eigene Gruppenfunktion verfügten. Aktuell verweist a.gup.pe auf eine WordPress-Seite mit SEO-optimierten Inhalten zum Thema Mastodon.

Friendica bietet die Möglichkeit, offene, geschlossene und private Gruppen zu erstellen, die jeweils eigenen Regeln folgen und durch den Gruppenersteller moderiert werden können. Diese Gruppen sind vollständig mit dem Fediverse kompatibel.

Pare che qualcuno abbia pensato che siamo anti-mastodon 😄 A parte l'assurdità ma basterebbe andare su diggita.com per vedere che il 90% dei contenuti arriva rilanciato da Mastodon e questo succede perchè #Mastodon e #Lemmy sono integrati: da Mastodon si può pubblicare sui gruppi Lemmy senza un altro account. Basta aggiungere un tag come: @fediverso

Su @diggita trovi una lista pratica, il post fissato elenca i gruppi tematici (ce ne sono 23 attivi solo su #diggita) se sei su Mastodon puoi direttamente seguire i gruppi (tipo @fediverso o @attualita, e altri) anche senza creare un account Diggita. Basta inserirli nel tuo toot o nel campo di ricerca del tuo client Lemmy (come #Raccoon, #Jerboa, #Voyager)

Since I'm already talking about this with a couple other metalhead.club members, I might as well tell everyone: about 23 years ago, I had a pint of beer with Lemmy in a Welsh pub because I didn't know who he was (or who Motörhead was) & he looked interesting.

He was really nice and got a kick out of me knowing nothing about Motörhead. He tried to explain how insanely loud they are and asked what the loudest band I'd seen was. When I answered Pantera, he replied, "Pantera are a bunch of pussies."

So he gave me VIP passes for the Motörhead/Anthrax show that night. Friends, it was SO f-ing loud. I was still deaf the next morning.

Hm, eine #Lemmy Instanz wird abgeschaltet weil es nicht genug Moderatoren gibt, bzw. weil es für die bestehenden Moderatoren zu belastend ist. Man gut, das ich hier auf meiner mini Instanz im Fediverse Trolle sofort Instanzweit blocke und mich auch nicht auf Diskussionen einlasse. Insgesamt aber eine schlechte Nachricht. 😕
