#AskFedi for those of you who are #blind or #VisuallyImpaired , or regularly use #ScreenReaders but aren't either, is it better for readability if I capitalise words in #hashtags or use underscores? My Mastodon app keeps suggesting no spacing or capitalisation, which I've been told is awful for readability, but it will sometimes suggest words separated by underscores instead.

Thanks to @Urban Hermit boosting your toot, I am now able to see it. As he explained, that is indeed how it works in the #Fediverse. Notice I put that expression as a hashtag--The Fediverse is one huge firehose of hundreds of thousands of posts per second, so using hashtags is essential for focusing in on the type of content you'd be interested in...for example, you could post a question for anyone to answer when you #AskFedi .
And consider following @Fedi.Tips for lots of helpful tips on navigating the Fediverse. Also be aware that although Mastodon is the most prevalent software by which to access the Fediverse, there are others such as the type I'm using (Friendica), Diaspora, Pixelfed, and so on. There are features that they will not have in common (for example, Friendica doesn't do CW--Content Warnings-- or Alt Text for images, or polls etc). With that said--welcome aboard!

This is a long shot but, I'm looking for a specific artist. I used to follow them on Instagram and I've totally forgotten their handle (there's no way I'd remember their real name either).
There's a specific painting that I remember very well, it's of a pair of headlights illuminating a garage door. The garage door is ajar and a pair of horse legs can be seen standing in a pool of blood.

Could you help me find pieces of art, especially video pieces about autism from the perspective of the autistic person? Ideally, made by autistic artists or filmmakers. Preferably short films but any other kind of art piece would be welcome too.
I edit to add: I'm asking because one of my final project students, who is autistic, is planning to do a video about his autism and how he experiences it. I wanted to send him some previous works, for inspiration or as examples.

Is there anyone on mastodon who works in life insurance in the US?
It was suggested on another platform that all protesters should take out life insurance policies to force discovery if there is lethal violence by ICE/law enforcement. The idea is that federal agencies would not be able to cover up murder because insurance companies have their own investigators.

I will be updating a website with weekly content updates by someone not tech-savvy at all. They are only comfortable with Word, unfortunately.
I was thinking a static site generator with automatic deployment when pushed to a repo? But I can't settle on a CMS that is super easy to use. Are there options that are really simple to use i.e. - add new pages, edit existing page contents, add PDFs and images??
What would you suggest?
I got into an almost-argument and I need advice and/or guidance from you dorks (affectionate).
Some doop on Reddit says he rips his CDs into flac files. I said the only thing that flacs increase in this regard is file size; not quality. He insists they sound better as flacs.
So, I ripped two CDs on my l33t h8xor Linux PC. 192kbps mp3s, and flacs. I genuinely could not tell the difference on any of my headphones, including the planar magnetic supernerd audiogasm cans. And I mean it: Zero difference.
Have I fallen into confirmation bias, or is there a real difference?

Is there a way in Mastodon to filter quote toots if they quote a toot which is filtered? I have fairly aggressive 'I don't want to see US politics' filters but things are still getting through because people are quoting toots (i.e. the original toot contains a filter word, so I don't see it, but the quote isn't filtered).

Ich möchte hinter einer Fritzbox Mut mehreren openwrt-Routern gleichnamige WLANs mit fast transition einrichten.
Der DHCP läuft (bisher) auf der Fritzbox.
Mit einem WLAN geht das zufriedenstellend, mit dem zweiten und dritten nicht. Die Netze werden - bei identischen Einstellungen - nicht geroutet, sobald ein zweiter Router das jeweilige Netz aufmacht.
Irgendne Idee, wie ich das löse oder besser organisiere?
I wish Mastodon would have a way to search for keywords only for "people I follow". Sometimes I know someone mentioned something, and I want to go back to that post, but I don't remember who or when, and it's hard to find. Is there such a thing?

Enquiring because of a random encounter with another plural trans+ being on Reddit, who advised that they're legally blind and had not found any suitably accessible way to access the fediverse.
Can anybody advise whether there are any such ways, so we can give them some way or ways to join the friendlier fediverse community?
If not, they're stuck largely with Reddit and Bluesky 😅😔
The topic only came up after we advised that we'd found fedi to be much more plural friendly and accepting that most other such places... especially Reddit.
For clarity, we have zero experience of iOS and are not blind (at least presently at least), so we'd appreciate any firsthand experiences very much 🫶🏻
