✨ #opensource is amazing, episode 67,265:
2 months ago (precisely) I was complaining about #codeberg displaying irrelevant issue previews on social media.
I opened an issue, then @mfenniak opened a fantastic PR about it as his first contribution to #forgejo , and after a respectful review, it was merged for v10.0 which was released some days ago, and deployed to Codeberg.
And you can see the result right here: codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/i…
Please #donate to #FLOSS contributors and maintainers!
feat: Issue preview card for social media
### Needs and benefits Today I posted on Mastodon the link to an issue opened on a repository of mine on Codeberg. I was surprised to see my avatar appear, while I was not the author of the issue.Codeberg.org
Do you have any experiences with AI creating issues on your repo? Someone opened an issue for Lightbeam and I'm unsure whether it was generated by an AI: codeberg.org/chikl/Lightbeam/i…. On one hand the "someone" knows details about the extension like the " 'Websites visited' value" but on the other hand nobody would use the term "Mozilla Firefox web browser" all the time. Maybe in the first sentence but then you would use only "Firefox". And there are other indications for an AI...

Happy new year everyone!
My first action this year was to move all my #git repositories from github #codeberg.
I also updated all the links on my website accordingly. The old stuff on github will stay there for a while but from now on, I'll be working on codeberg exclusively.

Codeberg is a non-profit, community-led organization that aims to help free and open source projects prosper by giving them a safe and friendly home.Codeberg.org
🔔 Heads-up: There is currently a #phishing campaign targeting #Codeberg users.
If you receive a notification that insults you and your project for poor code quality, combined with an offer to "fix" the problems when you send some money, please ignore and report to us: Mention "@moderation" in response to the issue or forward the email to abuse@codeberg.org.
We are trying to stay ahead of the noise before the notifications are sent.
I just donated 50e for @Codeberg 😀
Great Git platform without any "AI" bullshit. I rather pay for this than any "copilots."
Keep up the good work!
It's the first time I write some text about me on the web, but I just published a profile on #Codeberg.
And I'm now also accepting #gifts to my bank account, in case people like what I do.
(No other payment methods for now, sorry, but you can #donate to other projects instead if you want)

So the Social Web Foundation invites everybody to come over to Microsoft. 🙄 I see room for improvement.
"So, people interested in ActivityPub, standardization, and group dynamics in general are invited to review the documents and submit GitHub issues or comment on existing issues."

Of cloud services, I have to highlight @protonprivacy in addition to @simplex and @signalapp for communication. @liberachat is also important for open source developers. #vscodium for the IDE.
Otherwise I prefer #RHEL as the base OS on my laptop with VMs and #podman testing code across different distros. And @e_mydata on a @Fairphone.
Unfortunately, at my day job we're stuck with the Atlassian stack, which is such a time waster once you need to use the web portals. And even though the vscodium extension helps, it's still slow to use. It's slowly killing me from the inside with its sluggish user experience.
The open source projects I'm responsible for at work now uses #codeberg as the main repo (with pushes to gitlab and github, in addition to a closed bitbucket repos). This ensures redundancy and users concerned about repo attacks can pull all the public repos and see if the repos are in sync.
If you use #Codeberg for your #Git hosting, which other services you rely on can you recommend further?
For instance, we appreciate the service by #LetsEncrypt for our TLS certificates and Anoxinon for our Mastodon instance.
222666 is your lucky number: It marks issues in #Forgejo that allow you to help improve the software and thus #Codeberg.
If you are interested in picking up a task, I'm happy to help and mentor where I can. Let me know if you prefer #coworking or at least a code reading session via screenshare.
Austauschen - geht wieder!
After 5 years, this supercapacitor in a bicycle rear light is defective, which means that you cannot be seen in the dark when stopped (e.g. at traffic lights or crossings). However, this can be replaced.
A piece of criticism to all code forges I know: why not run #CI on all commits?
A bad commit is a liability. It will break bisect and make debugging miserable.
#ForgejoActions takes it to the extreme and cancels an already running action when I push another change.
I get it - it's too slow and expensive to test them all when pipelines take minutes to run. But you could just pause the old ones until the newest one is finished!
New blog post: mergiraf.org, a syntax-aware merge driver for #Git.
Supports #Java, #Rust, #Golang, #javascript, #cpp, #csharp, #html, #json, #yaml and #xml so far, and it's quite easy to add support for more thanks to #treesitter.

Anyone blocked by #Codeberg on residential IPs?
- I can't access it including the homepage.
- It doesn't matter if I'm already logged in or not.
- This happens to me on residential network*s* from Chunghwa Telecom (hinet), the dominant ISP in Taiwan.
- Restarting the modem to obtain new IPs doesn't work.
I've moved my repos to a selfhosted Forgejo. However, a lot of things still depend on Codeberg e.g. my Emacs config fails to download packages that reside on Codeberg. This is frustrating.
Hi! We "upgraded" our primary @matrix chat, (#codeberg.org:matrix.org) to room version 9. Upgrades are a part of the Matrix protocol: They create a new room in the place of the old one, and send invites to everyone in the old room. If you were in the old room, you should have received an invite.
We had 1588 members, but it seems like we only sent ~1180 invites. If you were a member of the chat, please accept the invite! If you haven't received one, please let us know!
