Adoption of AI & related technologies is now entering its second phase prompted by the shift from subscription models to token-based pricing for their use.
Subscription models prompted wide (indiscriminate?) use, but as charging has become related to *actual* use, employers are pivoting away from expansion to focussed use (and restricting use in some business processes).
Once costs are more clearly accounted for it will be interesting to see how AI adoption is re-shaped.
When corporate chieftains decide that consumer products should become cheaper, flimsier, harder to repair, and easier to throw out, it is the garbage worker hauling bag after bag of trash that has to inherit those decisions

on one level this is unemployment linked to technology, but its a bit different from *actual* technological unemployment - the latter sees people losing jobs due to the deployment of technology to do their jobs. Microsoft & Meta on the other hand are sacking people to take a (bigger) punt on a business strategy that is yet to prove its transformation of productivity.
