I was too tired to share this yesterday, but... what was planned as a quick nightly walk in my close surroundings during a moment I wasn't feeling like shit (due to extreme heat and my unusual sensivity to high temperatures) eventually became yet another of my usual "urban/rural explorations" as I went to other streets and paths that led to unfamiliar, cool places.

I have no idea what that ruined building once was, but it has some structures that reminds to both graves and shelves. Maybe an old cementery? 👻

(note: more detailed descriptions and brief stories in the alt text for each pic, so you can read that if you are interested even if you normally wouldn't need to rely on alt text to understand images online).

Always Welcome • Austin’s Coffee

This cafe has been a cultural staple of central Florida for decades with its nightly open mics and atmosphere. Open 24/7, it’s the place to try out your new mixtape or write something on the spot. After infrastructure concerns in recent years, the city moved them down the street and bought the property.

The living room is the heart-of-the-home, but what happens when people leave and never come back. Dust collects, wallpaper peels and even ceiling collapse. No two are the same; they are as unique as the people who once lived there. Which one of these calls out to you, catches your eye and sparks curiosity?

Exploring a creepy abandoned children's amusement park that closed half a decade ago. South England

A colourful children's amusement park that has stood abandoned for a half-decade. Somewhere in southern England.

The park opened in the 1970s and was first owned and operated by a husband and wife team. The husband spent countless hours in his garden shed handcrafting the rides himself. He used old truck axles and timber to create a magical world that bright smiles to generations of children and adults alike.

For almost four decades, the park was a success. It included traditional attractions such as swing boats, a helter-skelter, merry-go-rounds, trampolines, and even a miniature train ride.

Eventually they passed ownership to their sons, who kept the park alive for a decade after the handover. Unfortunately, repeated arson attacks and vandalism marked the end of the park. The sons shut it down, unable to repair the damage and keep the park open.

Today, the site is derelict, with the rides sun-faded and neglected as the years pass. A sad conclusion to a beautiful dream that now resembles a post-apocalyptic scene.

👻 Abandoned theme parks and funfairs from around the world. Does anyone else find these kinds of lost places extra creepy? Even with the bright colours and cheerful characters, these places always low-key give me the heebie-jeebies! Spooky vibes.

🇵🇹🍷 Exploring an abandoned winemaker's palace, Portugal - (Urban Exploration) Urbex

This late 19th-century quinta began as a large winemaking estate. It was later repurposed as a wedding venue before closing its doors approximately 20 years ago. Since then, the site has remained abandoned, decaying as the decades pass by.

The interior is quite beautiful, especially the former dining room. This space is bright with natural light, highlighting the decorative gold-gilded plasterwork ceiling and fascinating wall frescoes.

Detailed murals decorate the walls, including a large fountain scene above the fireplace and three panels on the opposite wall depicting town life. These illustrations transition from peaceful roadside and waterway views to a more dramatic scene of townsfolk fleeing a volcanic eruption.

Exploring an abandoned Victorian chapel, Wales 🕍 - (Urban Exploration) Urbex & Abandoned

This abandoned Welsh chapel stands near the edges of a lovely village in North Wales. It was built in the 1880s to serve the Calvinistic Methodist community. The building was designed by a Liverpool-born architect and constructed with a Classical facade.

Inside, there was space for 350 people on wooden pews spread over the lower floor and upper circle balcony.

The building operated for over 130 years, providing Welsh-language services and serving as a central point for the community.

The chapel closed down 10-12 years ago. Declining attendance and mounting repair costs forced closure of this once bustling hub.

It was subsequently sold, with plans filed for conversion into holiday apartments. Even years later, work hasn't started. The chapel faces an uncertain future, decaying more and more as the years and the inclement Welsh weather take their toll.

This beautiful abandoned church was most recently used as a nightclub after the final religious service decades earlier. The nightclub closed down around several years ago, and it has stood decaying and vacant ever since. Somewhere in Belgium.

🕳️ The Waterloo & Victoria Tunnels, from Edge Hill district down to the Liverpool docklands.

Opened in 1849, they effectively form a single, continuous two-mile subterranean passage. Two distinct names based on their original hauling technology.

The tunnels were closed in 1972 due to the decline of the north docks and transatlantic ship travel, which rendered them redundant.

Hier ruht sanft ... und die Zeit rast weiter.
(Here lies in peace... and time marches on. #HistoryMeetsModern)

When Caroline Mensing was laid to rest at the Neustadt Cemetery in 1850, #Hannover was a different world. No cars, no concrete, no internet. Today, her headstone looks out upon the Conti Tower at the University of Hannover - a symbol of modernity that has itself grown old over the years, something she could never have imagined. A place of mourning has become a city park where life passes her by.

Inscription on the gravestone: Here sleeps peacefully our beloved sister Caroline Mensing, born on November 27, 1802, died on October 9, 1850.

🇮🇹 Dreaming of Italy, and all the as-yet undiscovered palaces and abandoned treasures. It must be nearly time for another visit! Until then, here is a little behind-the-scenes shot of me lost in the beauty of this amazing place!

Hiding in plain sight on the grounds of an active hospital, this abandoned auditorium stands as a curious relic of the site's past. The only outward clues to its existence are a modest door sign and a striking green oxidised copper dome. Features that are seemingly out of place among the surrounding modern medical blocks.
