Hidden in the streets of Chongqing, China, this small sculpture shows a traditional rickshaw puller, a reminder of the city’s past when transport through the steep hills relied on human-powered carts and sheer determination. 🛺

With one of Chongqing’s famous Yangtze River bridges in the background, it perfectly captures the contrast between old street life and the modern megacity that Chongqing has become today. 🌉🏙️

Moments like this are easy to miss while exploring, but they tell the story of how people once moved through these busy mountain streets long before the skyscrapers and metro lines arrived.

A once-grand synagogue, converted into a swimming pool. Now abandoned and decaying. Somewhere in Poland.

Built at the start of the 20th century, this Polish synagogue was stripped and desecrated by Nazi forces, who converted it into a swimming pool for soldiers.

It remained a community pool for 50 years post-war. Now privately owned and hollowed out by a 2023 fire, the building stands as a sad ruin.

This is the #courtyard of the hotel directly opposite #Budapest #Keleti railway station, where I spent last night. Over the past 16 hours, I’ve managed to take lots of interesting photos in #Hungary, but this one is somehow special. I had to ask several people to help me get permission to enter the courtyard in the first place.

I took this photo with my #fisheye lens. I then removed the typical barrel distortion. Today’s #PhotoSuggestion asks for perspective distortion – which is why I think this photo fits quite well.
