#Forgejo (and #Gitea, too) likely have a UI that is easy to get started with. We often hear that people are struggling to learn GitLab, although it is probably a powerful tool for teams that work with it daily.

the difference in UI to GitHub and having to manage two git accounts is why I haven't switched personally.

If there was a git GUI that could manage multiple accounts easily then it might be more manageable... (Also a darker dark theme)

I use GitHub with the GitHub desktop app.
Also gnome and Linux but I don't think that's relevant

But you're right, I have heard this from people before and the lack of viable – as far as I'm aware, may be wrong – alternatives that let you interact with multiple forges is kind of a problem. ^n
