And usually the option is there, only striked out, often with a mention as to why it's not available.

Also, it'd perhaps be useful to remind people that not all software has that covered. #Tusky, for instance, still doesn't do quote posts.

Found out how easy it is to *preview* and *schedule* posts today.

Mastodon has a schedule api so you don't need to be online at the time, just a client that supports it:

Tusky and Tuba can both do this.

To preview a post you can send a direct message to no one. Then if happy redraft it and make public:

fedi.tips/creating-draft-posts…

Preview is useful to see exactly how media will look when posted.

Ich habe der #tusky APP untersagt #Links zu öffnen, da ich festgestellt habe, dass nicht wenige Tröts über Linkverkürzer wie "share.google" geleitet werden, welche dann den Zugriff zählen und für ihre Zwecke verwerten. In manchen Fällen werden die Weiterleitungslinks im Fließtext nicht angezeigt. Diese 'propagiere' ich nicht, wenn ich's erkenne. Oft ist es gar nicht nötig, #Linkverkürzer zu benutzen.
Nehmt dann lieber Original-URLs.

Brauch mal eure geballte Knowledge-Power.
Ich hab unter CalyxOS Tusky installiert und möchte Benachrichtigungen als Unified-Push mit ntfy empfangen. Jedes Mal, wenn ich Tusky jetzt zu öffnen versuche, crasht es. Benachrichtigungen insgesamt für Tusky deaktivieren löst das Problem. Laut Codeberg handelt es sich um einen Bug, der schon längst gelöst sei. Meine Frage: Was zum Fick ist hier los, und wie repariere ich es?!

Ich habe mir mal wieder @Tusky für #Android heruntergeladen und bin sehr zufrieden mit der App. Toll, was sich in letzter Zeit so getan hat - jetzt gibt es hier sogar Übersetzung für Posts. 🤩 Nur eine Sache klappt nicht:

Für Echtzeit-Benachrichtigungen habe ich mir ntfy installiert - und das funktioniert leider nicht. Tusky hat ntfy offenbar erkannt, denn Tusky wird in ntfy auch als Benachrichtigungsquelle angezeigt. Ntfy habe ich auch vom Energiesparmodus ausgenommen. Trotzdem werden keine Push-Benachrichtigungen angezeigt...

Hat jemand eine Idee, woran das liegen könnte?

Yes, there's no problem, I can see that. I wanted to know if there was an application that would allow me to show and hide the publication again. Because if the web interface I can do it.

For example, on #Moshidon or #Tusky I can show them, but I can't hide them after that (apart from hiding the entire account temporarily or permanently).

I have tried #Pachli and _do_ like it. The search feature that @nikclayton called out were a nice improvement.

Although I will still keep using #Phanpy as my primary Fediverse client, I ... was about to say that Pachli will replace #Tusky, but it turns out that composing in Pachli is nearly impossible because the compose dialog is entirely underneath the keyboard and not visible, making it very difficult to compose posts and responses like this!

I mostly use #Phanpy, and keep #Tusky around for notifications and link sharing. I don't do a lot of searching, but do like to link to relevant posts, so I'll definitely check out #Pachli when I get home.

Dear #Mastodon experts. I am using #Tusky and am quite happy with it. But when I come across a post with many replies I find it hard to follow conversations below it because I am never sure how many posts up someone is replying to (unless it's the one right above).
On Reddit or #Lemmy for example the indentation is always quite helpful to keep context for a conversation
Another option might be folding some sub-threads to hide them

It's not actually in NewPipe itself as #NewPipe is designed to never pass any information about the user to the services it is downloading the video from.

What I do is hit the share button, copy the URL, then open #Tusky (or your fediverse client of choice), go to the search field, paste in the video URL, and then reply like you're replying a toot.

If you close NewPipe and open the video again (your history makes this easy), it should load your reply as a comment.

Das hat sich am 21.03.2024 geändert. Jetzt können alle öffentlichen Threads-Accounts, die das wollen, mit dem Fediverse eingeschränkt föderieren. (PS: Das dürfen bisher nur Accounts aus den USA, Kanada, Japan.)

Es handelt sich um ein Opt-in-Feature. Wahrscheinlich funktioniert es deshalb nicht mit allen Threads-Accounts.

Außerdem haben wir festgestellt, dass es mindestens eine App gibt (#Tusky), die es nicht erlaubt, Profilen auf stummgeschalteten (limitierten) Servern zu folgen. Das scheint ein Bug zu sein. Eigentlich sollte nur eine Warnung angezeigt werden.

#Tusky (and therefore #Pachli) has regular reports from some users that notifications don't work.

I've never been able to reproduce these issues. To get to the bottom of it the next version of #Pachli Current will show a lot more debugging information so users can understand how notifications are being processed and we can fix them.
