Honestly, using #Phanpy feels a lot like using the #Mastodon web UI if it had been in 2 years of additional development. Lots of stuff people have been asking for, beautifully implemented.

Give it a try if:
- you've been overwhelmed by a reply thread on Mastodon because it's all just a big flat mess
- you'd like to see quoted posts actually unwrapped
- you'd like to see threads as threads
- you'd like to see notifications bundled

And yeah, it's all open source.

I have tried #Pachli and _do_ like it. The search feature that @nikclayton called out were a nice improvement.

Although I will still keep using #Phanpy as my primary Fediverse client, I ... was about to say that Pachli will replace #Tusky, but it turns out that composing in Pachli is nearly impossible because the compose dialog is entirely underneath the keyboard and not visible, making it very difficult to compose posts and responses like this!

I mostly use #Phanpy, and keep #Tusky around for notifications and link sharing. I don't do a lot of searching, but do like to link to relevant posts, so I'll definitely check out #Pachli when I get home.

Nutze seit einiger Zeit "Phanpy" (phanpy.social) als Fediverse-Betrachter via Digitalcourage.social-Acconut. Jetzt beobachte ich, dass ich neuere, aktuelle "Erwähnungen" gar nicht mehr angezeigt bekomme. Problem des Clients oder meines Fediverse-Dienstes?

Der Versuch, zur Standard-Ansicht beim Digitalcourage-Mastodon zurückzukehren, werden mit einer Fehlermeldung quittiert ( "Erforderlicher Parameter fehlt: client_id")

[1/7] Mit dem Standard-Web-UI von Mastodon hab ichs einfach nicht so, und nutze es üblicherweise über alternative Web-Clients. Auch den bekanntesten davon, #Elk, habe ich schon verwendet. Lange Zeit jedoch am ehesten den Web-Client von #Soapbox. Jetzt aber steige ich gerade auf #Phanpy um, das unter phanpy.social/ erreichbar ist.

Wie bei anderen alternativen Web-Clients für Mastodon muss man auch dort erst mal seine Heimatinstanz eingeben, also troet.cafe, social.tchncs.de oder wie eben heißt. Dann muss man noch die Erlaubnis erteilen, dass der Client die im Browser aktive Anmeldung bei der Heimatinstanz nutzen darf. Somit kann der Client die API der Heimatinstanz genauso nutzen wie der Web-Client der Heimatinstanz selber.

Obwohl sie auf die gleichen Daten via API zugreifen, können alternative Web-Clients diese Daten durchaus anders aufbereiten. Phanpy strengt sich dabei besonders an. Nachfolgend ein paar Beispiele:
