Ich habe das Activity Pub Plugin meines Wordpressblogs einmal so angepasst das statt des ganzen Beitrages nur ein Auszug ins Fediverse gepushed wird.

Scheinbar hat Mastodon ja Probleme mit so einer Masse von Text umzugehen.

Ist mir bisher noch nie aufgefallen, denn GoToSocial mit Phanpy als Frontend löst das wirklich ohne Probleme.

Aber wenn das so zu weniger Irritationen führt werde ich es mal versuchen.

I'm trying to add #phanpy as an app on my android phone, RedMi brand, so I tap on the vivaldi icon, tap on "Add page to" and the option that comes is "Home screen." I tap on that and it says Installing, but then, nothing happens. The shortcut doesn't appear on the home screen. Same story with firefox. A fork of firefox, Iron Wolf, woked, but it was unstable. Now I'm forced to use chrome. Any ideas?

I have realized that #Phandroid so far used the wrong upstream-branch.

I have used this finding to change the way releases are handled.
There are now 2 release channels:
1. Manually tested standard releases (Phandroid, using the stable production-branch of #Phanpy)
2. fully automatic dev-Releases (Phandroid Dev, main-branch)

If you do nothing, the setup will continue to provide you with stable releases, just less frequently.
Optionally you can install Dev (side-by-side, dedicated settings).

Anyone know how to get rid of this error with #phanpy bookmarks? Mine is displaying this error, but I can’t figure out what’s wrong with it. I also have very few posts bookmarked

I think Mastodon will never be that though, and that's by design of how ActivityPub works rather than gatekeeping. I'm trying really hard to curate AI content from instances that specifically gather people that discuss ML, NLProc, etc. I still find it hard to understand what's going on.

Frontends like #Phanpy help with 'catchup' features, but I think the entire ecosystem is ill suited for engagement. Maybe that's a good thing, idk.

I switched to #Phanpy about a week ago after someone pointed out that you could view a user's actual posts with boosts filtered out. Definitely helpful in deciding whether or not to follow. I also love having boosts visibly separated out in my feed!

TIL that via @phanpy you can browse local timelines... so I can do my 10 minutes of daily cheerleading for people / orgs on theforkiverse.com and reseauculture.fr (making them feel seen and valued on here) 💁‍♀️

You can use #phanpy web client (phanpy.social/) either on a public server, or on your own.
On phanpy you can have a separate column gathering together up to five hashtag, from whatever instance, without really following them from your account, so they don't appear in your timeline also

#Loops is getting some noticeable traction.

#Phanpy is an awesome Mastodon client that I use on desktop AND mobile (it's seriously that awesome)

#Pixelfed is getting better every day and #Pixelix the Pixelfed client just got a new bugfix release!

And running my own little #gotosocial instance is also a lot of fun.

Really cool stuff and I'm happy to be part of this new approach to social media.

[4/7] Wer mich schon länger kennt, weiß, dass ich immer ein Verfechter von klassischer Diskussioins-Visualisierung war (siehe auch webkompetenz.wikidot.com/selfh…). Von daher kein Wunder, dass ich bei #Phanpy besonders angetan bin von der Visualisierung von Postings mit Antworten als Baumstruktur. So kann man die Struktur und den Verlauf von Diskussionen optisch erkennen. Das macht das Nachvollziehen und Nachverfolgen wesentlich einfacher:

[2/7] "Lost in Fediverse" meint oft: Man liest ein Posting und sieht erst auf den zweiten Blick, dass es eine Antwort auf ein anderes ist. #Phanpy stellt optisch geschickt den Bezug zum Posting dar, auf das geantwortet wird:

[1/7] Mit dem Standard-Web-UI von Mastodon hab ichs einfach nicht so, und nutze es üblicherweise über alternative Web-Clients. Auch den bekanntesten davon, #Elk, habe ich schon verwendet. Lange Zeit jedoch am ehesten den Web-Client von #Soapbox. Jetzt aber steige ich gerade auf #Phanpy um, das unter phanpy.social/ erreichbar ist.

Wie bei anderen alternativen Web-Clients für Mastodon muss man auch dort erst mal seine Heimatinstanz eingeben, also troet.cafe, social.tchncs.de oder wie eben heißt. Dann muss man noch die Erlaubnis erteilen, dass der Client die im Browser aktive Anmeldung bei der Heimatinstanz nutzen darf. Somit kann der Client die API der Heimatinstanz genauso nutzen wie der Web-Client der Heimatinstanz selber.

Obwohl sie auf die gleichen Daten via API zugreifen, können alternative Web-Clients diese Daten durchaus anders aufbereiten. Phanpy strengt sich dabei besonders an. Nachfolgend ein paar Beispiele:
