Who needs a clear image of the lunar eclipse when you can have a blurry one photobombed by trees?😂
Tonight’s partial eclipse was obscured by the forest near my vacation place in Idaho when it reached its maximum, at 96% coverage. Still, I was able to get a few photos of it with Earth’s shadow receding, as Luna eventually cleared the trees. I’ll share those soon, but for now here’s my first two shots near peak eclipse. And now to bed.

FYI: For anyone in North or South America, there is a partial (96%) lunar #eclipse happening TONIGHT, August 27! Europe, Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific will be able to see it to some degree, but not necessarily the whole thing (check local information for timing).
I know that much of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois are expected to have clear weather. So if you live there, make sure to step outside around 11pm CDT to see the maximum!

Th best part of earth eclipsing the moon is the earth sunrises and sunsets painting the moon.
See the red on the moon here? That's our sunrise, earth's sunrise, painted onto the moon. Sunlight passes through our atmosphere and because pshysics looks red, to us in the morning, and onto the moon when we move in front of it.

'A sea of clouds during the eclipse'
Short video made out of single photos taken in a 10s interval by my 2nd camera on another tripod.
Had no special filter for this one, since I was using my 20 mm wideangle lens.
The change in brightness in the last few decimal percentage points of the partial eclipse just before totality is truly remarkable.

The eclipse reached 91%, and I captured it from the beginning to maximum, just before the Sun disappeared behind the mountains.
This time-lapse is made from 144 × 30-second videos, each stacked and processed individually.

1. the Barik card to use **everything** in the #Bilbao area, for multiple people. By everything I mean bus, tram, metro, even the suspended "gondola" on the #Bizkaia bridge (btw an actual gondola is this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gondola). And it's cheap!

por cierto, que no se me olvide comentar que el próximo día 28 tenemos otro #eclipse... de Luna, parcial.
Desde las 4:33 comienza la Luna a pasar por la sombra de la Tierra, siendo el máximo de ocultación a las 6:12 con un 96% de Luna en sombra.
Y el eclipse dura hasta el amanecer: cuando se pone la Luna a las 7:36, y todavía está en parte ocultada por la Tierra.
Me comentaba @Joaquin_Sevilla que después de lo del miércoles, un eclipse parcial de Luna parece menos esplendoroso. Pero mira, sigue mostrando que esta cosa de las órbitas y los nodos funciona con el horario previsto.

#smartphone cameras made in the last decade are equiped with #AI enhancements to fill in the gaps left by the tiny optical sensor. This is very noticeable if you look for it, but I've never seen something as egregious as this.

I finally got around to going through the photos of the solar eclipse, and I’m happy with them. In hindsight, I always think I could have gotten even more out of them. A different location, better foregrounds? In any case, it was very challenging to photograph the solar eclipse “differently” than how it’s usually seen. I wanted to integrate it into the landscape and not just capture it as a close-up. What do you think of the results? Since I don’t like to post a lot of photos at once, I’ll be sharing the rest of the photos bit by bit over the next few days 🙂
