There's something that I see on Mastodon at times that confuses me. Why do people sometimes write the main text of a post in one language, but use a different language for the alt text describing the picture that is included with that post??
I understand writing some posts in one language and other posts in a different language. What I don't understand is, for example, writing a post in English and including a picture with it that is described only in German.
Somehow I missed that you can now add alt text to your profile picture. Well I added it now. Did my best with the chatacter limit.
I know mastodon has lots of alt text enthusiasts and I'd be greatful for any feedback on it!

#MothOfTheDay sounds like a Scotsman's medical complaint ... but is actually a rather nice, neat greyscale bark mimic species:
BLAIR'S SHOULDER-KNOT
Lithophane leautieri
A recent colonist whose larvae favour cypress trees, it is now fairly widespread in the UK.

Image shows a couple in a car at a petrol station. The man says "I'm getting the feeling Americans are fed up."
They look at a man on a ladder, near a sign saying "GAS" with an arrow pointing UP, and "TRUMP" with an arrow going down.

How am I supposed to add alt text to uploaded audio files straight away?
The new desktop design now shrinks them to an unclickable thumbnail in the editor. Neither the '...' menu nor the alt text button is visible.
Posting them as they are and then adding the alt text later doesn't work either (apart from using another app, client or web interface).
Or am I missing something entirely?
