I started doing Short version/Fuller Description alt texts recently. I write them as if I'm describing the scene to a blind friend standing beside me. So my image descriptions ramble and have conversational asides. It bothered me that the length might bother people using screen readers. Then I realised I could put a basic short version at the beginning so they can choose themselves - my #AltText rambles are now opt-in, not opt-out.
