Perhaps the people I happened upon just didn't have any context that would lead them to think of a concentration camp uniform.

But I don't think that explains the reactions I got.

I had shown the uniform to several friends before I ventured out today, without any explanation of what it was, and all of them instantly knew. I could see it in their faces before they told me.

It had been difficult for me to go out in the uniform.

I walked around downtown Chicago today. I was wearing a replica of the uniform that prisoners in Nazi concentration camps wore during WWII. The bright blue triangle on my jacket is what migrants in concentration camps were forced to wear. Jews wore yellow patches, homosexuals wore pink, and other groups had their own colors.

I put on the uniform because Trump has begun rounding up migrants & deporting them, as he promised to do.

ikr... it's a great initiative on his part too. I think people in the states are clueless about history in general and this in particular. Maybe I'll give it another try and cut some.

I recognised the uniform, fortunately my experience is limited to documentaries & movies

Putting that on took some cojones

Walking around in it took more

I have no desire for a return of that horror
