Extension of a NATO fuel network gains momentum as Macron visits Poland.

Plans to extend a vast Cold War-era pipeline eastwards in order to bolster NATO’s fuel resilience are set to top the agenda at defence cooperation talks between French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish leader Donald Tusk in Gdansk on Monday.

The pipeline system, stretching some 10,000km, was originally designed during the Cold War.

The trial of men accused of sending exploding parcels for Russia starts in Lithuania.

Five people are accused of working with Russia’s military intelligence agency GRU to prepare and send self-igniting packages via DHL and DPD that detonated in Germany, Poland and the UK in 2024.

Two test parcels had been sent to the US and Canada, while two others intended for those countries were found in Amsterdam.
