- Ich bau eine schöne Web-App.
- Die liegt auf einem Server der mir nicht gehört.
- Und speichert Daten auch irgendwo cloud.
Gibt es eine Trick, dass der Browser die Web-App auf Integrität prüft, um sicher zu gehen, dass der Serveranbieter mir mein Javascript nicht verseucht hat?
Soweit ich weiß, gibt es das nicht. Aber: kennt ihr irgendwelche Bestrebungen in dieser Richtung?
Manche Updates bringen neue Funktionen. Dieses hier bringt vor allem eines zurück, das ihr längst vergessen hattet: Werbung. 🫠 Denn mit dem Aus für Manifest V2 verschwindet der klassische uBlock Origin endgültig aus dem Edge-Browser.

It's an excellent free tool that stops advertisers and other third-party trackers:
If an advertiser seems to be tracking you across multiple websites without your permission, Privacy Badger automatically blocks that advertiser from loading any more content in your browser. To the advertiser, it’s like you suddenly disappeared.

We listen to users both with respect to the things we add, but also what we do not add. Vivaldi is not an ad busines, like most of our competitors. We do not push AI. We do not push Crypto.

Weitere Steigerungen fallen mir nicht mehr ein. Brachte schon der Flickentag im vorigen Monat einen Allzeit-Rekord, so hat Microsoft (MS) die Anzahl der Flicken jetzt noch mal mehr als verdreifacht! Das sind Zahlen, bei denen mir schwindelig wird: MS hat Flicken für erschütternde 622 neu gefundene Sicherheitslücken herausgegeben, hinzu kommen 427 Sicherheitslücken in Chrome, die MS mit Edge erbt. In früheren Monaten wurde ein Zehntel dieser Menge geflickt. Jetzt sind allein 62 Sicherheitslücken als kritisch eingestuft (höchste Risikostufe). ... Weiterlesen:

Dear Vivaldi Team, with the latest update to the desktop browser, you have forcibly disabled extensions like uBlock Origin (you have never enabled extensions or add-ons in the mobile browser).
This has made the browser unusable. Your built-in tracking and ad blocker is crap. You have time until the end of the week to reverse this decision or at least publish a concrete statement of intent / roadmap for doing so. Otherwise, we’re out.

Hmm... my @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net browser got an update, and now it has forgotten ALL my carefully setup workspaces, email accounts etc (weirdly the calendar accounts are remembered). At first I hoped it would all come back via a sync, but no.
To be fair it has, over time, given me a lot less grief than most other browsers, but this is a big one. Can't even recall all the time spent setting it all up "just right".

They held out for a good while, but at last @Vivaldi no longer supports uBlock Origin because it is Chromium based.
I've been testing out @Waterfox for the past week and it's a pretty good browser with Firefox bones sans all the bloat and AI junk - and it supports uBlock Origin - so I'll be using that as my primary web browser from now on.

Sadly @Vivaldi also removed support for UBlock Origin. Now it's only Firefox flavours having it. I'm going to try UBlock Origin Lite, let's see how that goes.
Obviously Vivaldi has its own blocking of trackers and ads, but once a site took anti-block measures, UB Origin outshone all competition.

This is why we don't stop at building a decent browser, but also go the extra mile and get involved in regulatory work. Having real choices it's crucial for a healthy market.

My first company, Opera, was built on word of mouth. The same applies to my 2nd company, @Vivaldi. We have never had the means that Big Tech has. In the case of Vivaldi, we have even avoided investors, to not end up like Opera.
We have also made it harder for our selves. We likely could have generated more funds through adding stuff like Crypto, AI or just plain old data collection in the browser, but we choose not to. We are also not an Ad company like most of our larger competitors. Instead we have added a wealth of features and customization.
Now people are starting to understand that just going with Big Tech may be easy to start with, but ends up not being worth it. In fact we now have governments and companies thinking that they need to move away from Big Tech and quickly.

I'm trying to make myself a little web tool for quickly capturing timestamps on tasks.
I can figure out how to use #HTML #WebForms & #php to do the first iteration, but it's not obvious to me how to pass values to subsequent iterations of the #browser window.
I suspect I may need to use #javascript or something, but I've reached the limits of my knowledge.
Any help with pointers or search terms would be appreciated.
