I went for a nice ride around Assen today on my recumbent bike and visited that statue of people planning to destroy the planet which they have outside the NAM building.

NAM stands for Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij, which translates into English as "Evil Dutch Oil Company".

Perhaps you already know the #Netherlands is as flat as a #pancake. Yet this photo was not taken in #austria or #switzerland or even #Iceland. What you see in this photo is actually a waste mountain. A the moment I took this shot, they still used it, but allready made preparations to make it a recreational place. It already hosted several cycling races, like the Dutch championship in 2020 and 2022, the European championship cycling in 2023, the Tour of Holland in 2025, several MTB-races and national sprintraces, and many more to come.
It was bloody cold back then, with low temperatures and hard wind. I try to make the picture with that feeling. The scenery works well with it.
