Falls Ihr in den letzten Tagen komische Netzwerk-Probleme habt und die Leute auf einmal Server nur noch per FQDN ansprechen können: bedankt Euch bei AVM.
Die haben einen Wildcard A Record für *.fritz.box auf 127.0.0.1 eingebaut (statt NXDOMAIN).
Anscheinend werden vor allem MacOS-Rechner hinter einer FritzBox davon irritiert, selbst wenn sie per VPN mit dem Unternehmen verbunden sind und da einen neuen DNS-Eintrag bekommen.
Es ist immer DNS 😄.

Habe gerade einem Kunden bei einem Major Incident geholfen, wo das die Ursache war. An vielen Stellen waren die Shortnames hinterlegt.
Witziger Effekt: per Kommandozeile (Terminal) ist das schwer zu debuggen, da dort die DNS-Auflösung anscheinend anders funktioniert, als wenn Du im Finder einen Share mounten willst.

I just registered a new domain, to replace my container infrastructure domain with an European one (@Linux inspired me for this!).
I went with kiste.nl (Dutch word for crate).
Only has 5 characters and allows for so many puns and nice word-plays in sub-domains:
- Logistics/shipping: cargo, freight, manifest, shipment, delivery, express, priority
- Materials: wooden, steel, plastic, cardboard, aluminum, composite
- Sizes: small, large, jumbo, mini, bulk, heavy
- States: sealed, open, locked, stacked, packed, labeled
- Types: export, import, hazmat, fragile, secure
fragile.kiste.nl for a test environment (handle with care!) or hazmat.kiste.nl for something that needs extra isolation etc 😀
As I am browsing through the settings in firefox I see the odd setting of using it's own DNS over https enabled. My settings should be copied over from the account I use and I know that I've **never** turned this setting on.
I'm now on the SBC Pi5 running MX Linux Pi respin.
My own dns config is perfectly fine and Im changing it back.
Why is the firefox team doing this? IS there any protective benifit from having this setting on?

I forget who the Arch Linux expert out there is, but I can't get wireguard to resolve DNS at all. And my laptop has the exact same setup, and it works fine. I have tried everything I can think of or look up. If anybody out there can help me shed some light on this, I'm using a ProtonVPN config. Thanks!
