Ran the numbers for my first 13 months of jobseeking. Every time I apply for a job, there is a 6% chance that I get an interview. The chance that I get a job is 0%.

But the data has some clear patterning. If the job is at a museum, I get an interview in 29% of the cases, but here too a job in 0% of cases.

In the 1990s they dug a cable trench through the former medicinal herb garden of Mariefred Monastery. They turned the earth, put the cable down and backfilled the trench.

The following year, a neat line of henbane grew on top of the cable. The seeds had been waiting for 450 years to get back to the surface.

Archaeologists have found a fragment of a jawbone which detailed DNA analysis has determined it to be from a dog. This bone essentially rewrite history as to when dogs became man's best friends. It shows that dogs first came to live with humans 15,000 years ago, much earlier than farm animals or cats. Dogs evolved from grey wolves but over time through breeding changed into a distinct breed. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn0ky1…

Acapulco, Mexico today where we headed off to visit the Tehuacalco archaeological zone and the vast remains of a ceremonial site of the Yope people. A pelota court, pictured, was the highlight for me, but there were plenty of temples and pyramids around too. About 80 of us visited in 4 smaller groups, and we had armed national guards at the site and the place to ourselves as it opened today specifically for us.
