Oh, now I realized: most forges host underpriced runners, so they have a reason to have them run as little as possible.
Well, I set up my own runner on #forgejo for a single repo, so I have power to spare 😛
A piece of criticism to all code forges I know: why not run #CI on all commits?
A bad commit is a liability. It will break bisect and make debugging miserable.
#ForgejoActions takes it to the extreme and cancels an already running action when I push another change.
I get it - it's too slow and expensive to test them all when pipelines take minutes to run. But you could just pause the old ones until the newest one is finished!
The #Forgejo monthly update was published ✨ It is a high level overview of the project activities.
Forgejo is two years old and has been a lively human adventure, a story worth telling. A hackathon organized by Codeberg generated thousands of new translations. Forgejo v9.0.0 was published, as well as a security patch release which was backported to Forgejo v7. A kubernetes cluster was created to replace the current infrastructure, running Forgejo from the Helm Chart.
Get the theme at any time and consider moving to #Forgejo 😀

Well, I see... "switch platforms, because of colour choices." Hey absolutely fair, even though I don't really care.
I have a lot *more* reasons to think about switching (I have and I use #Forgejo). Not of course that people haven't talked about them...
Consider moving to #forgejo, it has orange as a default theme 😉

@chrisn We can always make use of contributors for #Forgejo. Even if it's not directly related, you can always start checking out good first issues or picking something else so that the other maintainers can do other things in the meantime.
There is currently little planning for the exact feature set of the quota, but you might want to check back in two weeks when there are more concrete todos written down. ~f
Some small bugs were already discovered and fixed by the team.
If you would like to improve Forgejo, take a look at the good first issues codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/i… and check out the recently improved #Forgejo contributor documentation: codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/i…
#Forgejo was upgraded to version 9 now. The upgrade went smoothly and there are three months of improvements now available to you. 🥳
You can read about the release on the Forgejo blog: forgejo.org/2024-10-release-v9…
Thanks to the team for the great work.
As usual: report any bugs you might find to our community issues, or if you are an advanced user, kindly forward the reports directly to codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo/i…
Thanks to the Forgejo contributors!
Codeberg has two downtimes scheduled in the next two days, upgrading #Forgejo to the latest version as well as operation on our owned hardware.
See the notification at status.codeberg.eu/status/code… for more and up-to-date information.
Thank you for your understanding. We'll try to minimize service disruption.
#Forgejo v9.0 was just released! Get it at forgejo.org/download/. 🚀
It is the first version to be released under a copyleft license. Forgejo has early support for a soft-quota that can protect your server from high disk usage due to abuse. It also removes support for go-git, considered too hazardous for daily usage compared to Git. The translations saw an unprecedented number of improvements thanks to the hackathon organized by Codeberg.

You might have guessed it already: We are struggling with excessive crawling today. We have - again - blocked several large IP ranges, but were not yet able to identify the new actor.
We are working on restoring service availability and fine-tuning our rate-limiting.
If someone is interested in implementing an improved native rate-limiting in #Forgejo that also protects other instances from abusive crawlers, please reach out 😉
Weiter Woodpecker CI nutzen und eine extra software managen, dafür aber nichts ändern müssen, oder auf Forgejo Actions wechseln? Jemand erfahrungen?

Can anyone recommend a tool that integrates a Kanban (or something else) board with a repo properly? So I can attach commits, PRs etc. to a specific task for example?
Especially in a #godot context, because I need #git lfs. I've tried 1Dev, but LFS is locked behind EE and I'm now trying #Forgejo. #selfhosted would be awesome though. Azure DevOps or a Jira instance might be a little "too much" for a team of ~5 people, right? Any experiences?
