My #library passport adventure continues — this week was special because I visited several little free libraries, dropping off #solarpunk zines, on the way to the Big Library, then went to the #HandsOff protest after.

Pretty much the perfect Saturday.

I took a picture of this display at the #library to make a note to check out these books ABOUT the library! #LibraryMonth

I am reading The Grapes of Wrath. It had been on to read list for a long time and when it was banned in some backward southern state, I bought a copy.

I understand why they banned it and I understand why every american student should read it.

@MichelPatrice I got a copy then too! And I still need to read it... I have a feeling it will just increase in relevance as we go.

no doubt that the era is fucked up

but I would argue that #reading has *always* been an act of resistance, education is foundational to movement building and long understood as the key first step to cultural change

that's why they ban the books

The Carnegie library system here in Pittsburgh started a passport program — so they issued little passports and encouraged people to visit all the libraries (there are many!). Each library has their own stamp that shows you visited their library. You can see it in the picture.
