Obama didn't stop or start war, he inherited a few though. He's a Harvard educated Political Scientist with specialties in Constitutional law. I think it's wise to note that. He probably didn't issue as many executive orders during his entire term in office(276;Wikipedia) as the current administration intends in the next 4 years. Even the thought of actions taken so far by the current administration (relating to the nullification of the Constitution)for former Pres. Obama were untenable... for many & varied reasons.!. "Manifest Destiny" that underpins American Empire would seem a feature shared by TR & the current administration, it's true... "en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politi…
The US Navy shooting down weapons from Yemen headed toward Israel.
The US Navy is sailing around in the South China Sea just to make the point that everyone gets to be in international waters. This issue is much more important to the Philippines.
The US is supplying weapons to Ukraine, but no US soldiers are there. It's just Russian, Ukrainian, and North Korean soldiers. There are some volunteers from other places that fight under the command of Ukraine. There are also some Russian mercenaries.
During my lifetime, there have been some pretty major wars fought by the US military. I'm thinking especially of Korea and Vietnam. Iraq and Afghanistan were, by the standards of 20^th^ century wars, just battles. There were single days in the American Civil War and WWII when more American soldiers died than in those two "wars" combined.
I spent just 6 years in the US military, but the US military then was much, much larger than now. To a large extent this is due to the fall of the Soviet Union.

It's not all about petroleum. It used to be all about the USSR. After that, it was all about Israel and its enemies. It was never really mostly about petroleum.
Now most of the conflict is about Putin and Xi. China wants to be the most powerful country in the world, in every way. Putin wants to Make Russia Great Again.
What's next? I'm afraid Trump will actually start some kind of war. He's a Vietnam-era draft dodger, and he's called members of the US military suckers because they act against their own selfish interests. This seems to suggest that he won't want to be the commander-in-chief of an all-out war, like Nixon, Johnson, Truman, and Franklin Roosevelt. But I think he might like some small, quick conflict he can easily win.
He might attack Panama. I think that's quite likely. I doubt he'll attack a NATO member. Or will he? Would he pull the US out of NATO and invade Greenland? If I were a gambler, I wouldn't bet against it. Canada? Less likely.
He won't, I think, go up against Russia or China. He'll try to make deals. He flatters himself that he's good at that. I'm afraid that he'll screw over both the Philippines and Ukraine just to show what a great deal-maker he is.
Did you know that the only serving US President to win a Nobel Peace Prize before Obama was Teddy Roosevelt? He negotiated an end to a war between Russia and Japan. (Obama, by the way, didn't end any wars.) That Peace Prize is ironic because TR was notorious for fighting Latin American countries that interfered with US corporations.
I think Trump might like to be the next TR. I think he might try to push around little (what he calls "shithole") countries in Latin America. And he might negotiate treaties that screw over Ukraine and the Palestinians. I think the world might let him get away with screwing Ukraine, but no one in the next four years is likely to negotiate any lasting peace between Israel and Palestine.
Trump just attacked the Islamic State affiliate in Somalia. This is nothing like invading Panama, but it does not show an unwillingness to use military force.
I'm still waiting to see what he will do about Panama. Will he actually invade, thinking that taking the Panama Canal will be quick and easy (little loss of life)? He might just be like the dog who thinks loud barking will be all that's needed. We'll see.
Yes, TR really did become a progressive. But he was also a jingoist. Trump is a jingoist and has no trace of progressivism that I can see. He's also a bigot. He hates foreigners and homosexuals.
War for water and the last places of living space on this planet. If I were American I would sell my home in California or at the coast.
Where do you think a war for water might be fought? I do think that climate refugees are going to become a real problem all over the world. Trump's response will probably be not to help anyone. That's certainly what he has signaled.
