Today I went on the Sorby Natural History Society walk in Rough Standhills. Sadly, there was a dearth of fungi, but there were some nice finds —including earth fan fungus, blushing bracket, turkey tail, and a troop of glistening inkcaps.

Exploring on a rainy spring day found a really cool fungus, eating a log, being eaten by a colony of really cool millipedes. What a nice day :3

The fungus is violet crust (Phlebiopsis crassa) and the millipedes are feather millipedes (Brachycybe lecontii).

First visit since November to a local spot. It's like a little rainforest but is completely enclosed by modernity and nothing is natural. The pool was made to top up a canal and the reason it's so sheltered and moist is the fact it's in the shade of a motorway. Nature isn't something we need to travel to visit, we are nature and it's all around us if you look.
