Horse has been horsened! My first instinct was to make a realistic one because I'm a boring sort of adult, but I think I'll make another one with more fun colours.

Started working on a birthday present for my niece! She's turning 10 so I'm going to give her 10 individually wrapped presents. Small ones, some handmade and some purchased.
First handmade one is going to be a #crochet bag charm horse, because apparently she's in her horse girl era.

*there's also a lot of good sheep footage. Yesterday they crafted an outfit for dogs but what I really hope for is a challenge crafting a Sci-fi inspired outfit for sheep.

The grey was enough to make four rounds of each of the two shades. My inner Monk would have loved for it to be five, because the squares are also 5 rounds each, but I think I can live with it this way.
In total it weighs close to 900 g, size is 150 cm x 110 cm (60 in x 44 in). It contains mostly the leftovers of the last 15 or more years of knitting socks. A few leftovers made it twice into the blanket, but most are only there once.

I'm making good progress weaving in ends - and the yarn I consider for the border has arrived. I couldn't decide, whether I want to go with two shades of grey or two shades of violet / purple.
Both go well with the shades in the blanket, but give different effects. I think I'll go with the grey
My partner suggested mixing the colors ... Interesting, but ... No.

After the recent knitting marathon I decided to put away my knitting needles for at least a week. But there is always crochet hooks as an alternative.
So I dug out this leftover sock yarn Granny square blanket. It's now about 16x11 squares and I think 16 is enough length but I want to add a 12th column for more width. And there's plenty of leftovers to make the 18 squares for that size.
And then this needs a border. Black? Grey?

I heard a couple of weeks back that West Yorkshire Spinners have switched off their machines, and the factory has gone quiet. I hear today that they are hoping someone has taken it on, but nothing certain yet. WYS yarn was a staple in many a yarn shop, and it is sad to hear of its possible closure so relatively soon after the unforgivable closure of New Lanark Mill.
Being in the yarn business in the UK can be tough. But hopefully resilient. 🤞

The planned projects... each one has a project page on my personal wiki. At the minimum, it has a description. But most of them have more than that. This may include:
* database reports on the supplies/yarn to be used for it
* design plans, and/or links to pattern(s)
* descriptions or step-by-step info on prototypes (and how they failed)
The spontaneous "I wanna do this right now" projects have nothing. They may acquire a project bag in due course.
For projects which require multiple counts to be kept track of, I use an Android app, BeeCount (written by @knirirr here on masto)

Hi! New crocheter here, started ~6 months ago. Haven't heard of #FinishOrFrogAlong before, but I'll try to join in. Actually finished one project today, so I'm down to only one WIP 😁
Here's the finished hat I just made for my daughter. The yarn has reflective thread spun into it, so hopefully it will make her extra visible in the dark winters here in Denmark. Recipe is from a Harry Potter themed crocheting book. (It's a bit subtle but Hermione wears a similar hat in one of the films. Without the reflective thread 😅)

#FinishOrFrogAlong is a great opportunity to share my first crocheted piece ever! Maybe it will show people who are struggling with learning to crochet that it can look so much better, after you get the hang of it
And also to just share something that is far from perfect, because I think that is important too

Both 3d printing and knitting/crochet produce 3d objects by adding material layer by layer following instructions which are comparable to code which 3d printers use.
Husband 3dprints, I knit by hand and using circular and flat knitting machines.
3d printing and especially the circular knitting machine (CSM) have sooo many of the same problems.
also even though #knitting & #crochet is adding material it is very differs then #3dprinting which uses 3d graphics
i disagree because FDM/FFF #3dprinting is lamination of fused thermoplastic filament while #knitting & #crochet are both completely different styles of #manufacturing

No tenía pensado publicar la evolución de Poncho de Café, porque sólo he hecho dos vueltas. Pero como una de esas vueltas es la marrón de puntos triples, pues sí que se nota la diferencia.
Eso sí, estoy molesta porque este cabrón (el ovillo beige) me ha salido con dos nuedos seguidos. Podéis ver en la parte derecha cómo asoman dos hilos y, a los pocos centímetros, cuelgan otros dos.
Con lo bien que íbamos, Katya (la marca), ¿esto qué hostias es?

Cuanto más tejo el Poncho de Café, más me gusta. Puede que no para mí, pero eso es por los colores.
El tutorial lo hace con blanco, sólo blanco, y creo que meterle franjas en otro tono le da vidilla.
Pero también es que el beige hace mejor sombra en el relieve que el blanco.

Anoche me alargué más de la cuenta tejiendo para terminar la fvuelta y hacer una foto en condiciones de Poncho de Café.
Y después se me olvidó publicarlo 😅
En el videotutorial lo hace todo del mismo color (blanco), pero yo he acordado intercalarle franjas marrón oscuro aprovechando la vuelta de puntos triples.
De momento sigue siendo un cuello nada más.
Edito para señalar que esto sería una unidad de repetición.
Bueno, más o menos, porque no lo voy a repetir exacto. A la franja de puntos cruzados le voy a ir metiendo una vuelta más cada vez.

Poncho de Café es relativamente sencillo de hacer.
Tiene la misma estructura que Ponchorano, pero juega con otros puntos, todo en torno al punto alto (vareta).
Por el momento he hecho puntos altos, puntos altos cruzados y puntos altos por detrás. Y después viene punto doble o triple.
Por cierto, con estos colores y textura, me recuerda al cuello de un jersey sin mangas de light academia (?)

El videotutorial que sigo lo hace todo en blanco, pero yo he decidido ponérmelo un pelín más difícil.
La mayor parte va a ser beige y de vez en cuando va a tener una franja marrón oscura.
(Si os sorprenden estos colores en mi persona es porque no es para mí.)
Así que voy a llamarlo Poncho de Café ;D
La parte beige se hace con puntos altos cruzados, que me hacen ir despacito para no liarla.
De hecho, iba ya por la tercera vuelta cuando me he dado cuenta de que me había saltado un punto, así que venga a deshacer.
